Sway - Still Sway and Kane ft Kano
Previous Mercury Prize nominee, MOBO and BET Award winner Sway has teamed up with seminal rapper Kano on his most recent offering ‘Still Sway & Kane’. His highly anticipated forthcoming album ‘The Deliverance’ is set to be released this year following the success of his previous singles ‘Still Speedin’ and ‘Level Up’, which charted in the top-20 and top-10 respectively.
Reuniting two of the most respected wordsmiths in the UK after they joined forces on the ‘Still Speedin'’ remix, ‘Still Sway & Kane’ is co-produced by Sway alongside Giorgio Tuinfort (David Guetta, Akon) and Fuller Refix. The track also features and introduces Tigger Da Author, a singer-songwriter recently signed to Sway's Dcypha Productions label. Inspired by Sway’s favourite producer and rap legend, Dr Dre, ‘Still Sway & Kane’ samples the hip-hop classic ‘Still D.R.E’. After a chance meeting with Dre himself in London, Sway took it as a sign to complete the demo and release it as a promotional single, delivering an undeniably fresh and hard-hitting UK take on one of the most recognised songs in rap history.
Few UK artists can boast of being a genuine game changer, with a musical supremacy that comes from never resorting to anything less than brilliance. This summarises North London based Derek Safo aka Sway. Acclaimed for his complex lyrical style and witty social commentary and wordplay, Sway has been praised by everyone from The Times, NME and Radio 1 through to Lupe Fiasco & Ian Brown. Not only is he renowned for setting the bar for clever and authentic musical artistry, but he is also widely respected for his business acumen as a previously independently funded and released artist.
ATOM SMASHER "Fizz Digger" (Dir. Miles Flanagan)
Dir. Flanagan repurposed footage from an older job and digitally re-choreographed and animated elements into it to create this new piece. In doing so he reflected the (cut & paste/digital manipulation) methodology of breakbeat artist ATOM SMASHER. Both artists here mixed analogue with digital - and the visual results are as fun, playful and vibrant as the music.
