rock band Face Tomorrow. The video is made by artist / director Peter Greenaway, who you may know from movies like The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, The Pillow Book, Nightwatching etc. Overpowered is the first single of Face Tomorrow's third album 'In The Dark', released oktober 6th 2008 on Excelsior Recordings.

The end of Total Request Live, and MTV in general?

With the exception of FNMTV, the MTV Suite, and a few shows on MTV2, there really is little left to the pile of rubble that is today's MTV (in America). While MTV does have The Hills, proving that it still has some cultural cachet with its target audience, its sister network VH1 has more going for it with shows like Flavor of Love and Best Week Ever.

What does MTV have that can keep it afloat in the next few years? The Hills. And probably Paris Hilton's My New BFF. From what I can tell, that's it. Will FNMTV save the day? I doubt it. Will MTV eventually restructure and rename itself? At this point, that looks much more likely, as the name Music Television will have lost any use but as a punchline to a long-forgotten joke.

MTV: This is it. The blue pill. Or the red pill. Take your pick.

Minilogue, "Animals" (Dir. Kristofer Strom)

Boing Boing tv has a piece up today by Kristofer Ström of Ljudbilden & Piloten, based in Amsterdam -- a music video he created for the Swedish electronica band Minilogue (label: Cocoon).

From the blog post:

The track is "Animals," and the video features colorful critter-blobs wreaking hyperfun havoc all over an urban real-life-scape.

Rehearsal Space: Orba Squara

You probably already know the music of Orba Squara, even if you don't realize it. Mitch Davis is the man behind the music. He wrote, recorded, mixed, created the artwork, and now performs (with his live band) the Orba Squara debut album, Sunshyness. It is truly an independent album, but Mitch has garnered widespread attention thanks to high profile commercial licensing, like the Apple iPhone commercial.

In this episode of Rehearsal Space, Mitch talks about how he went from working with other artists to creating his own music on a multitude of organic instruments, including the often broken toy pianos he collects. He explains the importance of creative control, how he ended up licensing out his music to so many places, and explains what we can expect from Orba Squara's second album he's releasing later this year.
