Beck - Black Tambourine

I found this on StereoGum. Is Beck making a video for every song on the album? Insane.

As for my opinion, there's really not much to this. Gets old kinda quickly and the song isn't all that catchy either. Still looking forward to the album, though. I saw him last week and most of the new stuff sounded pretty great.ai, February 9, 2005 11:02:58 AM CET
That's ascii straight out from the software. Boo.For cool ones videos.antville.org
or directly:
processing.org
(the vid is dead but you can still see the effects apart)
And that beck sounds better than in 93? not sure.

No offense but it's not very original. i largely prefer when you can read the letters (true old school ascii illustration) like they did for star wars ascii. Also there was a vid for a shitty french band a few years ago where some scenes were in ascii. But some letters were a multiple of 2 of other letters, so you had some big abstract letter mixed with small text more like a texture in the same frame. The whole thing following the luma.captainmarc22, February 9, 2005 7:00:12 PM CET
hmm yeah this doesn't work too well online - reminds me of the "Fell in Love with a Girl" video - but that worked so well becasuse it didn't feel like just a filter (computers were used to design, but all the legos were built) - if this had some blurred ink or was on real paper that was photographed....
maybe Beck should stop giving all these motion gfx companies a few bucks here and there (that Hell yeah video was equally "meh") and direct some opus himself - am I the only one who thinks "Sexxx Laws" was something of a classic??

new pollution was great.stripedcollar, February 10, 2005 1:26:03 AM CET
Yeah, I kind of expected more from Beck. You'd think he'd look at it and see how how mediocre it is, the incredibly talented and creative artist that he is. He could have done one infinitely better himself. Or better yet, team up with a real director like Gondry or someone. Deadweight was a triumph, to put it lightly. The Shynola video is by far the best out of the three. That one is amazing.
I like the song, though. Can't wait till that album comes out!!

thanks a mil.by the way...does anybody have secret search techniques for finding videos? Is there a better way to search for videos or whatever rather than just google? like maybe a search engine tailored to movie files?

Someone gave this link www.blogsnow.comif the videos are hot they might be here.

I think the google video search sucks, I don't understand how it matches the videos with what you're looking for. Yahoo's is much better. I just put "beck epro" in a regular google search and that link was in about the 8th match. Videos.antville.org was #1!!!!!!!!!!!...!

google video search scans television closed caption signals - useful if you need to find out if they said "Paris Hilton" on the Tonight Show but completely worthless for finding video.
