direct linkwow they're even more pop.
payola.
it's a pretty awesome video. Very retro. Kind of reminds me of that recent Ravonettes video but this is much more interesting. The transition to them w/ their instruments was awesome. I have underestimated Diane Martel.

that freakin' rocks. my favorite part is the urinal and the can can.it's so goofy for a mainstream video- so much personality comes across- I LOVE IT.

Song is kind of crappy though.nicod, 1. September 2005, 13:00
yeah this is a great clip. wonder what the budget was..wiggle, 1. September 2005, 18:14
I think its rubbish but diane martel has done some good stuff - lap dance was definitely a bit tasty - but she seemed to disapear after a slew of mediocre work for virgin in the uk like the thrills. franz ferdinand at a gallery opening? how radical.
when are they going to let Dougal Wilson have a go? they're all from edinburgh after all

this video made me happy. <3biccamera, 2. September 2005, 01:11
Perhaps biting the hand that feeds them. Artists are an easy target I reckon. They must have got the set and cast from a big box marked "Avant Garde art opening. inc. Dwarf and toff in bowler", the one they used in “The Rebel” , probably. Considering these guys met at art school, I must say they have missed the target marked “post modern” and hit on the lowest common denominator right between the eyes. Nevertheless, it looks cool and is funny in parts. Disappointed, but not that surprised. Difficult second album, I guess. Happened to the Stereophonics; but they were shit to start off with.nicod, 2. are you more dissapointed with the track or the clip? the clip does it's job well.biccamera, 2. September 2005, 10:06
The track is very a swaggering pop oddity. I can’t decide whether I loathe it or am just a little disappointed. The video, on the surface looks great and has some funny moments; but does smack of an identikit modern art pastiche that you would see in some second rate comedy. “The band wanders into a gallery opening full of wankers and pretentious art. They get drunk and win over said wankers by playing their guitars”: kind of Kids from Fame meets the Monkees. I don’t hate the video. I’m just a little puzzled by it all. Perhaps I should sit back and enjoy the ride.wiggle, 3. September 2005, 13:15
do not enjoy the ride - your instincts are correct. this kind of art school happening pastiche has been irrelevant since tony hancocks fineset film 'the rebel'franz ferdinand should know better

"do not enjoy the ride"....I think that says a lot about many of the peeps on antville!pablokorona, 13. October 2005, 10:44
after many weeks sitting on this video and song, i really dig on the video now. Even with these comments of me - its meant to not take itself, or anything else, seriously. Duchamp meets Beastie Boys.zombiesparkle, 11. November 2005, 11:40
Bob was the only one to ever go to art school. He's the only artist of the bunch. Period. They did NOT meet in art school.
