Cansei de Ser Sexy (CSS) "Music is My Hot Hot Sex" Editor: Clarus Bartel
Here's a fan video made from green screen footage of CSS. Cool song, but pretty stupid video. Just looks like someone testing out filters and color correction.

Well believe it or not, this is THE MOST POPULAR VIDEO in the HISTORY OF YOUTUBE with 87million hits and counting. More hits than Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" or "The Evolution of Dance." And where those videos took months to hit those numbers, this CSS video has been clearing 3M hits a day.

You'll say: "it's in an ipod commercial, they're big in Brazil, it's popular on the blogs...." but that would lead to Feist "1234" numbers, in the 1-10M range. There's no way this video is actually this popular without some kind of hack or Youtube bug. Who's got theories?
         
I dunno man, although on the youtube page it does say 'VOTE OBAMA 08'

it was added 10 months ago. The spike in hits came less than a month ago. Also: the Obama 08 was only added recently.

And how is this #1 because of Obama, why is the Will.i.Am video that EVERYONE was talking about only getting 6M hits?
         
i'm brazilian, and i can say that they're not big here in brazil (css is bigger in uk than here). and there's some kind of hack on it for sure.
         
number of comments is usually proportional to views. This has around 4,500. The next video down- evolution of dance has around 123,000. Girlfriend has 182,000.
         
likewise: favorites. CSS is favorited 10,000 times, "evolution" is favorited 393,000 times. Big discrepency.

wow, that Cut Chemist clip is even hackier than CSS. I wonder how they did it. I'm guessing it's something long the lines of Denial-of-Service attack. Or spam email.

Another Brazillian here that can tell you CSS is not big in Brazil. Definetly.

My theory about the video: remember Long Tail? Views of this CSS clip come from lots of places while Avril Lavigne and Evolution of Dance are just hits: they have only one source of views.

whoever did it, the css lot are laughing. great free worldwide publicity. Expect Youtube's top videos to be meaningless within months.
