I'm not too into the over-processed look... and he needs to learn some new moves.jesse.ewles, August 3, 2008 3:16:49 AM CEST
There's something about pairing Coldplay with one of the Europe's greatest turning points that I find a little funny. I love the way the red punch of the flag jumps from the back ground though. I would have liked to have seen that background swirling into a French Rev paintings just on it's own for some of it. ;)-j

dir. Anton Corbijn - I agree with the over-processed stuff, but Anton can still carry a tune, as it were.Btw see Control if you haven't.

This Delacroix version was directed by Hype Williams.Anton's version is a remake of "Enjoy the Silence".
Interesting dialectics.
(The rapidshare-linked avi above is nothing more than a badly converted, much heavier version of this flv.)

kays - them dialectics deserve thems own post, thinkunot?budget, August 3, 2008 12:13:52 PM CEST
It must be pretty humbling for the music industry when the biggest song from the their biggest band can only be done justice when Apple is forking over the budget. I'm pretty sure all of their fans were waiting for Romanek's ad to be turned into a complete promo.progosk, August 3, 2008 12:32:51 PM CEST
that apple's drunk the music industry's milkshake is pretty much old hat, no? it's when romanek turns out this, and hype & corbijn the above, that you get an idea of whom the (roman catholic?) bells are tolling... (for the record, i'll agree that corbijn's is the only one of the bunch that's got a little something going for it.)scooper, August 3, 2008 2:17:36 PM CEST
i heard there was ANOTHER version of this too?! Matt Whitecross? (NOT the viral political one, but a huge budget number)....
jesse.ewles, August 3, 2008 5:17:14 PM CEST
Aye-carumba! The Corbijn version is a cut above I think. I love that it's a video sequel with a different band. Makes me like the track too. :)-j

Good God this is shit!Coldplay have all the money in the world to make video's and they turn out this rubbish? Repetitive and pointless. Hype Williams is a very overrated director.
And the video for Violet Hill was lame as well!
kalstark, August 3, 2008 6:45:21 PM CEST
Okay, so did Hype do the video up at the very top? Ack, either way, it's trash. The Corbijn one? Pretty shitty too.
The Romanek commercial is the best of the 3. Sad but true.
The two 'official' versions pretty much suck. Imagine, if you will, the Hype version with an unknown indie band and song... We'd be tearing that garbage to shreds.

Frankly, they should had made a full version of the Romanaek video, but ah well. Out of the official videos, it's a draw for me. The pros and cons of each videos equals about to the same. I would like to see how it would look if Hype directed the Corbijn version
framescourer, August 4, 2008 9:12:51 PM CEST
Enjoy La Vida. Viva the Silence. No, you're right, Romanek should've taken this one all the way.
