this deals with seroius political issues, thx to M&TV for bringing this to the screenlusk81, 2. September 2008, 18:08
idk about that msm. I found this piece to be flat on many levels. my name is legion, 2. September 2008, 18:25
Darkness imprisoning me, all that I see, absolute horror. Such an unfortunate mix between the performance shots and the film proper. Other than that, not everything alluding to the Iraqi war should move me. Herr_Schmidt, 2. September 2008, 18:45
When dealing with serious political issues it would be better to make some serious political statement. This video would perhaps have been okay at the beginning of the war in iraq, when US americans still were stomping on french fries and were looking forward to some glamorous war footage on tv (and even Madonna was to scared to annoy this mob). But meanwhile "war is bad", "people could get hurt" and "be nice" can't be considered as sharp cutting edge messages anymore. shut up, 2. September 2008, 20:29
I think its well done, you guys are all gushy on that lame alex and liane performance video? come on, this is decent and suits the band well. trans_alt, 2. September 2008, 20:31
I would also add that one should be conscience of how your narrative cuts with the song. A Metallica finale shouldn't be paired with images of people fixing a car, not very exciting. moonman, 2. September 2008, 20:43
boring...Alanedit, 3. September 2008, 00:09
Good video, the song is the best offering from Metallica in some time. The editing lacks tempo, seems to stop the video dead on it's tracks. I would have taken a point / counterpoint approach, cutting the parallels with more urgency / sharp cuts to accentuate it. Somehow with the war theme it needs that sorta punch. It's really really good, i'm surprised at the extended instrumental. Good work Metallica...now let's erase the last album you did and let new memories remain.
PS moonman...how's it boring? this is antville. You could post a better response than that.

Most boring Nickleback video ever.As trans said, a jump-start is not generally considered a 'big finish.'
Ponderous.

yes, metallica are back with boring 80ies metal. i think this video is pretty vacant or whats the message? the day that never comes, that us-soldiers help a muslim woman fix her car?baudfather, 4. September 2008, 06:13
The point that never comes? This looks like a video for a totally different song. Kudos to Rubin for renewing their sound, but this vid is a total miss. An 08:30 "comeback" track should have a (somewhat) epic video. Watching the time-streched band play during the peak of the song ruined it for me. They should have pulled some strings and recalled Akerlund or Corbijn.tocofan, 4. September 2008, 11:07
it's very, very boring. I cannot imagine myself watching it a second time. could you?egos, 4. September 2008, 18:39
this is the classic case when the song rocks and the video sucks, I mean, when I saw the first still (band playing under a sand storm) I thought that the idea behind was that metallica was a force of nature, you know, band play slowly then rocks so the video, landscape still then everything shakes, the desert, the sea, or whatever, but... maybe a desert performance could be better, anyway, the song is great, so the album (I hope)kayser_sauze, 27.
