False Advertising - Maneater Productions
So today, a buddy of mine told me that he's now repped by this company:
www.maneaterproductions.com
His commercial is posted right there on the front page of commercials.
The commercial for what it's for is now listed on their Clients page.
There's just one problem... My buddy's spot is a spec.
A glance through all the people on the site showed that the majority of stuff on there is spec, but yet... They still insist on saying these are all their clients.
Does anyone else find this kind of dishonest?

i wouldn't exactly call it dishonest - no one expects you to make specs for fake products. It would be VERY dishonest if you put down fake agencies for these spots.Apparently, a lot of agencies loathe specs. Maybe they feel it's directors moving into their realm; like a DP who starts directing the actors.

hipgnosist, did you mean to post that in this thread? videos.antville.orgcaptainmarc22, 9. October 2008, 10:53
okay, i just looked at the "Commercial Clients" tab that has all the corporate logos. Yeah, that's probably a bit tacky. I mean, EVERYONE knows that Google doesn't do commercials. I don't think they even employ an agency. HIHIHIH, 11. October 2008, 00:45
The real question is why are you dogging some poor guys fledgeling company in a public forum...why mess with someone's livelihood?donlee, 15. October 2008, 08:21
Why mess with someone's livelihood? Because they're messing with everyone else's by lying. They could be taking jobs from people who actually deserve them, having earned their spot directing for certain clients.
Why is it unethical? Because it's lying. The reason why Republicans are unethical when they run completely false smear ads.
Is selling fake gold watches a crime? How 'bout bootlegs of movies on the street?
Lying and cheating is lying and cheating.
