Jamie Cullum 'Don't Stop The Music' - directed by Kit Lynch Robinson
Pulse Films is working with Jamie Cullum on all aspects of content for the launch of his new album, The Pursuit. All of the content for the new album is linked by the central image of an exploding piano, which represents Jamie’s energy and his dynamic relationship with music.
‘Don’t Stop The Music’, Jamie’s distinctive cover of Rihanna’s iconic song, is on the new album. A cut-down of this music video will also be used to promote the album on TV. It was directed by Kit Lynch Robinson, whose previous work includes digital projects and award-winning commercials for clients including Emirates, Land Rover and McDonalds.
‘Don’t Stop the Music’ features striking close-ups and wide shots of Jamie performing on a black piano, against simple white and black backgrounds and a wall of lights. Jamie’s performance is intercut with slow motion close-up photography of the piano exploding, shot using a mixture of oversized models and a real piano. The explosion is shown in intricate detail – strings strain and snap, hammers splinter, keys fly outwards – before the entire piano fractures and is thrown into the air. One of the final, epic images portrays Jamie walking towards the camera in slow motion as the piano explodes behind him.
