Passion Pit - "Cry Like A Ghost" (Dir : Daniels)
the thing that made Gondry more than the sum of his cool transitions was that he filled his videos with unique and original ideas and images that could stand alone without all the tricks around them.
The content of this is pretty pedestrian, it just amounts to a woman doing interpretive dance in the arms of a bunch of designer stubbled dorks.
Weirdly it's a bit like a jeans ad version of yesterdays yeahyeahyeahs video.
To be fair, gondry was also working with much bigger budgets. It's a lot easier to "fill your videos with unique and original ideas and images" when you have the money to pay for them.
Of course it is easier. but it's the old 'ideas vs money' argument, and there's plenty of budget/no-budget videos with unique images/ideas in them.
What are the budgets of this video and, say, "Let Forever Be"?
Not a lot and much more.
big fan of daniels but really wanna see them grow now and do something different. bit of stagnation here
