Mylene Farmer - Libertine (dir. Laurent Boutonnat)
Sorry for "Islands of Consciousnee", it seems out of order. Maybe I'll repost when it will be working again. Maybe.
Now. Here's a love triangle... uhm... multi-angle at the times of the French monarchy, with masculine chicks and sissy guys, with its own entry on IMDB. Absolutely NSFW.
Watch it. (Flash Video)
This is a great video.
Just bought her DVD, where "Libertine" is first vid on it - (followed by another "pourvu qu'elles socient douces", which is the second part of the story of Libertine) - and if you watch through the whole DVD it turns out, that all these Mylene Farmer-Videos are completly tasteless and (especially "Désenchantée") indecent. If you watch just one of them you wonder: How is it possible that this vid exists? Who did it and who gave the money for it? - but all them in a roll you realise that the recipe of Farmer & Boutonnat, to use a theatrical scenario compealed with a very poor Synthiepopsong and to add some nude scenes, is not more as a recipe without a cook. Some years ago they invented a Lolita called Alizée - videos.antville.org
- where they still used the same ingredients which they have imported from the 80s without any kind of a new idea. My conclusion: I will resell the DVD on ebay, where I just got it from. (okay: I like one vid on it: "Je t'aime melancholie")
Spreech, I concur. But why would you buy the DVD in the first place? Mylene Farmer is shit and has been for ... well, ever!
The worst of the 80s, today!
spreech - indecent -? exactly how many clips of mass nudity feature on that there DVD - Beyond my control, Plus grandir?
Désenchantée is a take on Oliver Twist ain't it? How's that indecent?
The Pope and the ' Wee Frees' will be writing you citations next if u don't watch it (forgive th' pun) 'sides Its French mate, the country that gave us Brigitte Bardot
As for stuck in the 80's? It's of no great consequence I'm more pissed I'm stuck on the Stratford Rd waiting fe a bus
On wee Alizee, that tune took her round the world, the fact the video concept according to your critique was dated didn't seem to bother the public, nor me! I watch such vids for the same reason I watch Korean or J Pop clips coz they are completely different from the Anglo fodder I receive via TV
nofare obviously won't be catching my bus then!

nofare/robodrug -I bought the DVD for the same reason why I finally will also keep it: It is a collection of cultural poptrash and on second level - I love it, of course! But I really think "désanchatée" is indecent -robodrug- cause the whole esthetic is not only based on Oliver Twist, the scenario reminds in many moments of a concentration camp, as far as I watch this is not by accident - and combined with an endless version of this silly song: I'm sorry - this IS indecent.
From now on, I'll be using the word indecent whenever I can
Sorry spreech but exactly what d'u think a 'workhouse' woz? (Workhouse - Oliver Twist is incarcerated in such when he asks for more) Only a bleedin concentration camp! It didn't have roses roun' its sturdy prison doors and certainly there weren't no jolly Bart'esque Artful Dodger types trapezing in and out singing 'Gotta pick a pocket or two'
Dickens hadn't the balls of Balzac to paint shit as it really was and wiped most ov reality from the corners ov his - Woman ov good breeding's descent into poverty (can't remember if she woz unmarried) - orphaned heir cast adrift in vicious world - kindly philanthropist's stages rescue, morality tale
Balzac would have wrote it as wee Oliver (I can't write in a Fagin accent) dragged up sum nasty sewerage filled ally, stripped bollox naked for his fine clothes or had his throat slit! Should he have had the luck to survive there would have been no rescue in his poor brutal short life
Tell me someone, why the French can make the dust and dirt look real in their productions but with the Yanks and English u jus' know it came out ov a tin 'n been painted on by the makeup? artist
I like the way robodrug talks!
robodrug = urban pirate.
i like it too. (like the way robodrug talks) but actually: i dont understand everything from it. mh. am i conservative because of my use of the word indecent?
"A gore-spattered, slo-mo realist fight is well handled and I particularly like the conclusion to the opening duel, where the lover's cape bursts open to reveal billowing crimson. But basically it's dated; it's what Prince would have done if he'd made Dangerous Liaisons instead of Under the Cherry Moon."
I only just realized this was an original product, and not a remixed movie.
There is such intense cognitive dissonance here (the foreign language, the bygone era within a bygone era) that I'm pretty much left thinking 'Mylene Farmer is a funny name.'
Guy's its worth coming back to this in some detail coz language is creative 'n ongoing
The word indecent, no I don't think you are conservative spreech, its just such a word would not be juxtapositioned with a comment on concentration camps in the every day vernacular ov spoken English (though you are applying correctly the dictionary definition ov the word) - morally repugnant may have been a better choice ov words - indecent tends to be juxtapositioned with phrases like scantly clad, swear words, sexual proclivity, religious disapproval on the lack sexual morals etc
I note though your comments lumped all Mylene's clips together before isolating Désenchantée as particularly 'indecent' so maybe you are commenting on your disapproval ov sexual scenes in videos?
My point on Désenchantée's concentration camp portrayal stays
I am more perturbed by the English'ness down playing ov the horrors ov the workhouse system, They were brutal thuggish degrading and open to abuse by the sadistic moralistic scum that run them, most working people would only enter them when they were on the point ov expiring from starvation Dickens as I've said jus' hadn't got the gritty balls of Balzac I'm not saying he woz'nt a good writer or failed to point out the iniquities ov Victorian life
But when you see how Oliver Twist has been translated on to film, David Lean's (t' Alec Guinness one) is the best ov t' bunch, Still it's implicitly reinforced, nob's and only nob's rescue poor wee Oliver As for Lionel Bart's Musical Oliver directed by Carol Reed, wiv ragged arsed street A'rabs dancing up 'n down the 'dilly or t' Ol' Kent Rd, cheerfully filching silk handkerchiefs or a gold half hunter as, they prance merrily along, skilfully avoiding the peelers n' the ensuing hue n cry Sorry but I find that complete bollox, and summarise that if u juxtaposition Bart's Oliver next to Désenchantée u might reconsider which is actually the more repugnant
Peelers = police (after Robert Peel) t' dilly = Piccadilly Nob's = Nobility Half Hunter = a fob watch Wee = little
progosk u r actually closer than it would seem on th' Robert Louie front
Yes I speak an urban a mix ov English, Irish, Scots, Jamaican patwa (patois), slang and text speak (chav) n' anything else that take me fancy but I round it down somewhat to avoid confusion

I apologise for turnin' antville temporary into a discussion board around language and for not earlier giving your comments the attention and time they deserved. I'm right in the middle ov doing my tax credit returns (need to be in by 31st Aug) Oops thats out the window for today!
robod - langwhich, itz a vyeriss... ooh!
