is there no official gorillaz forum anywhere?

i mean, i love the blogosphere's spontaneous outgrowths as much as anybody, but this is getting slightly... pathological (apart from clogging the comments index), no?

what do you suggest? moderators? a closing time for each post? It seems to me that the people who made this thing just set it up and now it's running on our own gas. who are we gonna complain to?

One thing that would solve the problem would be to have the right-hand bar show "Posts With New Comments" instead of "New Comments." EG, it might looks something like this:

I have no idea how much of a pain in the ass it would be for the site admins to code that, but it would certainly make the new comments feature more useful (even after this Gorillaz madness dies down.)
         
adamr is the only one who can end this. If he logs in and deletes his original post, the gorillaz kids will be so pissed to see their life's work gone that they will abandon antville forever.

"axe topics listing" - you mean the directory? hmm. ok i guess, as long as the search works... though it was a kind of impressive chronicle/record in its own right.
         
while you're at it: do you think you could move the search box above the recent comments? especially if it's to become the main indexing tool, it's a bother to have to scroll down to it.
         
search box has been moved. i also added some css stuff to cut off everything after 400px. now long urls and wide pictures won't hurt the design and the readability.

the directory is still there at videos.antville.org, but you the dropdown menu in the form for a new story is gone. meanwhile, we have 1068 topics, which makes the whole concept unusable.

(one of the next antville updates will transform the idea of topics into something like tags or keywords. once this is implemented an available on antville.org, i will see if i can come up with something better.)

kris: tags/keywords can easily be added as of today by just adding a new 'part' to the story-editor-form and change the story-display (see mks.antville as an example).

i doubt if topics could change from one to many without a massive change in infrastructure, but i have only looked so much into the source.
         
i know you can add a new field for keywords or tags, but you cannot yet list all stories with a given tag. i talked to tobi the other day and they are planning something like this.
