The Cardigans "I Need Some Fine Wine..." by M. Renck and J. Ström
curious enough...

miserable compression.
isn't this the "love me love me" band? i guess the only way to come back from overexposure like that is to put the chick in a sexy dress and get her splayed out on the floor. just a good call there.
Compression looked great to me.
I imagine a video like this happens in 1 of 2 scenarios:
-
The director writes a treatment, which more or less acknowledges that this video won't make sense: "first we see some raw band performance, then, we cut to the singer in an S&M costume, then a dog runs around a white void." The band thinks a video sounds interesting because it's all over the place.
-
The director pitches some grand idea: "The dog represents her inner hunger, and the white is society's blankness to issues in the developing world."; the band goes for it, they shoot it and then it makes sense to everyone who read the treatment.
In scenario #1; the band makes a questionable decision.
In #2; it's a bad director. Whether he came up with concepts that were infeasible or he is just incompetent; it's a conceptual failure.
I ALWAYS assume it's scenario #2.
i think i'm with you on this one captain. not really sure why i posted it...
scenario #3: the label insists there's a dog in the video because she says "you're a bad dog" and then later she says "you're a good dog"
indeed, trying to be evocative but really it's just nonsensical
these types of videos are seldom more than the some of their parts. even so, i can't say i didn't enjoy watching her splayed on the floor in that blue slip.
I liked the footage of the cat wandering around.
I like doggies.
i'd like to pet her... in a sexual way! no but seriously, you know who should get a musical career in the works - kirsten dunst. yeah!
come on guys- if you get rid of the dog commercial at the end- the band performance in the room is great- also didn't remember this band being so " indie"... and the singer being quite so hardcore?
This feels like an indie-pop Target ad.
I'm in love with overhead angles.
Progosk: Thanks for posting so many videos lately. If not for you things would be dull around here.
just love to get you all bitchin... ;-)
i watched this video again, and you know what? it's sexy. & i agree with warhero, the band performance is good. despite the missteps, i like missy's attitude. bitch has got a fucking gold tooth for bog's sake. and overall it's pretty damn watchable
i wasn't going to post comments here anymore, but to hear the cardigans snarkishly referred to as the 'love me love me band' made me a bit sad. check out the albums 'life' and 'gran turismo'- this a highly accomplished band. it's a shame they got stuck with a fluke one hit wonder, albiet a very catchy and sarcastic one.
i think you mean "snarkily" robo. but thanks for educating us.
d_h came whiffling through the tulgey wood, and through and through his vorpal blade went snicker-snark.
music videos & lewis carrol. i love antville.
i love jabberwocky
don't you mean dickensesque_hero? i stand corrected. but still, cardigans=great band. love them love them.
no, i mean dickensian: dictionary.reference.com
but lets stop this semantical nitpicking robo. i like you. besides, i like this video and song.
i wasn't being serious. it's just that i never had no fancy book learnins from no grammartician. peace.
