The Presets "Are You the One?" by Kris Moyes
some curious australian lo-fi effects. (i guess the compression artifacts were meant to be part of it...?)

A MASTERPIECE!
fuck yeahs! cool as hell.
that was excellent on so many levels. Compression artifacts are definitely part of the video. Who's the director?
Best was that they somehow managed to include the Hasselhoff Recursion.
I was thinking the same thing about the hasselhoff recursion.
Wowee, Video of the Month!
the artifacts are so wicked- looks like his face is decomposing in time-lapse...was fast forwarding through a digibeta the otherday and thinking about how cool the artifacts would be for a transition...film damage for the 21st century. i was thinking the 7 nation army video or whatever the name of that WS song was, but the hasselhoff recursion was probably the inspiration now that you mention it.
here's an interview with the director, kristoffer moyes. young oz, the singer's brother; the other video he's done wasn't much to look at at all (though the conceptual premise wasn't half-bad: p.o.v. of the director/cameraman at work but unable to get a proper shot of the performance of the band, who, all the while, go through as many changes in outfit as his camera goes through effects presets.) i think this is pretty much his first proper effort.
here's more about the band.
Presets are awesome, great clip - lo-fi artifacts are a great look and have been around a while though it seems to really be in fashion now, recently i thought that VHS or Beta clip used it well.
great video.
this was already done on that venetian snares vid if my memory serves.
Flip, I hear you. That video used a sort of compression meltdown, but it did not use it to play with motion like this video did. I wonder if they had a plugin to muck with the keyframes or just played with the scrubbing in the video player.
It is sort of funny how it reads as old fashioned even though the video codecs that glitch like that are only a few years old.
here's another one i'd guess is by kris too (he's kim the singer's brother); it's an .flv of "down down down"
UPDATE: it's not by kris. it was done by a girl called Kim Greenway.
This is my favorite video of 2005. Hands down.
