North American Halloween Prevention Initiative-Do They Know It's Halloween?

pleasant enough (if sloppy) motion graphics video. But I wish they would have explained the story behind the song in the video - even to point out who's singing (many performers did hard-to-recognize voices). For a better visual experience - I recommend listening to the song while reading the info on the website- www.vice-recordings.com
i quite enjoyed it. although just as you state you wish they could have explained the story behind the song in the video i think you should elaborate on what you think is sloppy about the video.
woulc you also maybe consider that concept that just because a video features famous voices you dont predictably have to put a cartoon lookalike of them in the video? besides there's loads of info on the vice website. make an effort will you! after all its halloween
ok, i guess - still a godawful song, though...
a voice in the corner of the room frequently says to me "never make videos for bands/songs you dont like". if that were the truth of it then we would have only a quarter of good videos out there. its not the most amazing song in the world and will probably sell on the weight of the names involved alone. i always think its a testament to the talent of any music video makers if they can put together a watchable video to the worst of songs (like plastic surgeons tucking in the cellulite of patients). i've seen some great videos on this site to what i've thought to be absolute garbage songs.
the video should have spoofed the original video so we knew what the fuck was going on.
frambo - just sloppy in the sense that a lot of the graphics weren't as slick as the hundreds of other motion graphics videos that came out this month. Some of the motion paths were awkward, character design was hit-or-miss. Animation was often blah.
The music video director has to assume the audience is brand new to the song & "story of the band"- otherwise he's just preaching to the choir.
If videos were all just "you've heard the music and read about the band, now see the video" they would be completely pointless. The whole idea is to bring in people who wouldn't have heard the music before they see the video.
This isn't bad but I think it's a missed opportunity, concept-wise.
its a charity release isnt it? the live aid video was, as a video goes, pretty awful but then thats not the point. its to get the song as much exposure on as many different forums as possible.
sometimes it is hard to have a good video when there is a lot of other great stuff around. then again a lot of it is down to personal choice of what is deemed good. slick graphics does not always a good music video make. i think some stuff is too stylised these days and is verging on the point of an overload of chin stroking trickery and when you hear of the budgets that went into producing them you really feel cheated.
quality of video is relative to budget and timescale for turnaround. i'm not saying thats an excuse to put out rubbish but more an afterthought that many labels leave it very late to eventually decide on giving the go ahead for a video and its this procrastination that can often compromise. i'm sure you've seen videos with good ideas but poor technique and it makes me wonder if they could have been better had the record label acted quicker in saying yes earlier than 3weeks before it was due to release.
A parody of the live aid video would have been great. Though from what I've read, it probably would have impossible to get everyone involved in the song together in one place for something like that.
didnt know this was posted. its fucking cool!
The original doesn't seem to be working
Directed by D.A.D.D.Y., if you didn't catch that.
