The Decemberists "Sixteen Military Wives" (dir: Aaron Stewart)

Now, I know this was posted before, but there was only a link to a torrent, and it wasn't posted with any sort of title... so here it is again, in a simple quicktime file to coincide with it's release as a single in the UK. Maybe you haven't seen it yet. It's good.

MESSAGE! Well done. Maybe a bit too good, the song became a mere backing for the video.bigload, 19. November 2005, 01:36
Was this song on the soundtrack for Rushmore? I didn't think so.kevathens, 19. November 2005, 15:58
Ultimately this is one of my favorite videos of the year.dickensian_hero, 19. November 2005, 20:38
What is this quasi-rushmore tableau inter-titles crap? This video is as dull as the color timing.switcharooney, 22. November 2005, 01:41
the song is about america so the idea is "let's have a microcosm about america set in the model U.N. and we'll shoot it like Rushmore." That all sounds good- but when you're watching the video you don't realize the song has anything to do with what you're watching until the 2nd chorus, so your reaction is "Hey, this dude just ripped off Rushmore." A flaw in execution, not design.waltmink, 22. November 2005, 17:07
This is the best video of last year, HANDS DOWN!kevathens, 22. November 2005, 18:07
I'm not sure why Aaron didn't mention this, but he told me earlier this year that he didn't even realize he was ripping off Rushmore til it was all finished and people told him. (Correct me if I'm wrong here, Aaron?) Just felt that that needed to be added here, perhaps?Personally, I didn't get the Rushmore thing til he told me too. I did see the movie back when, but I'm just not a feature film buff like most of y'all.

sub-conscious ripping off of wes anderson to be forgiven. excellent idea, excellent execution (execution better than idea?).kevathens, 4. February 2006, 13:31
