Kanye West - Heard 'em say
sorry its streaming and its the version from BET with Kanye intro'ing it.. someone can repost the direct video if they come across it..
animation by Bill Plympton.
apparently Michel Gondry's original video was scrapped at the last minute for this one. ...
kevathens can probably spread some more light on this, but i'm 90% certain the gondry version is on the way, it's just still in post.
not sure why kanye would trot out another version in the meantime though.
Yeah, he says, very clearly in the interview, "I shot two videos and the other one you'll see around Christmas time."
I want to ask Kanye if i can have the freedom to believe in something other than Jesus.
k's got some nerve taking credit for directing this... maybe if he hadn't, plympton would have had more of his usual bite.
Alright, alright. Michel's is not scrapped!! The whole story is here: www.director-file.com
I've seen Plympton's video on BET & MTV, and was disappointed, probably because of all the insert shots of Kanye. Doesn't feel totally fleshed out. I love Plympton though.
kevathens, do you have access to gondry by any chance? I'd love to hear what's happening.
This version is okay.... it's hard to be anything but a letdown. Adam Levine looks so wussy and corny (he had kind of won me over on the song).
Although when you hear the pitch for the Macy's version - it's not too hard to imagine some Hip-hop labelheads going "What the fuck is this??"

Yeah that's all from a talk with Partizan. They're really nice people.
My site's a blend of official/unofficial. Someday I'll work for RES or some shit, but for now this is all I can do to support the mv community.
Speaking of, I just found out the world premiere of Michel's version of this will be at RESFest in Montreal this Friday..
What was that cobbled together at the last minute piece of rubbish. I almost don't believe this is Plympton's. Is it the lack of colour that really detracts from his work or is it the simple fact that it looks like a rush job? This isn't 'OK', this is terrible. If Mr K did direct this, it certainly shows.
kanye delivered a sneak peak of this version on canadian television a few weeks back and happily took the sole director's credit.
Roc-a-fella just posted this: Windows hi - Windows lo - Real hi - Real lo
plympton comments on the making of this (rush job indeed...) here
