one trick doth not a video make.
@ yoda: last time i checked one trick does make a video, for instance: Kylie Minogue's Come Into My World, Coldplay's The Scientist, etc etc... Not that I'm comparing this video to any of the above, my point is just that most music video revolve around one trick. This video however uses a gimmick and runs with it, whether succesfull or not, it's well executed imho. The music wasn't too bad and I found the ending surprising. The whole concept's a bit thin on the whole though.
i. ...yoda? ii. gondry? thraves? one-trick? iii. oh, never mind.
(first off, this is muh first comment and I must say I friggin' love this site. I visit everyday. the end.)
I admit it. The song is catchy and I'm going on watching this thing 3 times solely for the music. So shoot me. I think the whole trick here just isn't interesting enough to make the video. With the "The Scientist" and sort of with "Come Into My World", this central trick had the potential to evolve into something greater. Chris Martin soaring back up a building in slow-motion during the migratory season, for example. This video's like "oh look. his face is made of photos. ha." Finished. But apparently there's a bigger jist here that I've been missing for the cheesy music...
