Cut Copy "Going Nowhere" dir. Kris Moyes
understated & physical. (chor. Antony Hamilton.)
mov here UPDATE: new link
(previous Moyes video here)
A nice one take video, but - this is hard to resist - it ultimately goes nowhere. The column-moving should have happened 90 seconds earlier, and built from that. And spaztic dancing is fun but it doesn't feel that connected to the song directly or ironically, for me.
Actually the song's just okay imho so that's probably the deciding factor.
that was cool man!!
Unrelated, the setting is really close to that in Ladytron's "Seventeen" (at ladytron.com).
The song is okay, but this promo didn't sell me... that crazy dancing, the whole "arty" vibe, throwing paint on the wall, comes across slightly cliche and cheapens the fun idea/song in some ways. That "crazy" interpretive guy just started to get annoying for me and a i agree it feels slightly disconnected.
Hey! Kris Moyes removed this from his site, and it got removed from Boards' site. I got the album and really like this song now, and am looking forward to seeing this vid again. I suspect I may need to watch it more (which happens sometimes to good vids).
Modular has an interview with him.
Okay, well, there are some great ideas here, both song and video, but they don't mesh well together.
Lookout everybody! Here comes the Awwwstraaalian Art school mafia and they’ve got something to say!
im not sure what i find more painfully prententious:
the clip or the director's contrived interviews i read on modular
I think he truly believes he is australias answer to gondry
so very very contrived, so very very off the mark
the direction is truly dreadful, the idea is just as bad
reading above:
"Lookout everybody! Here comes the Awwwstraaalian Art school mafia and they’ve got something to say!"
i take it that is a joke?
