Sigh... another one of those bands who thinks they're just so goddamn clever and funny and ironic and arch. The hell with them.jva, January 3, 2006 8:22:44 PM CET
no sighing, imho. silver jews and pavement are granddaddies of today's "arch ironic" bands and can't be dismissed as just "another" one. i'm not wild about the new stuff musically, but the lyrics still slay. i'd check out AMERICAN WATER, you might like it more.and i don't think it's ignorant, progosk: i'd be confounded too if the first video is actually legal, unless done as an unpaid fan vid (something the director's CV suggests is unlikely).

that planet of the apes one - is that just an edit (mashup?) from one of the sequels? Cause if not, it's VERY well done - but at the same time, lacking an interesting take on the homage/parody. Also, the use of Fast-motion is terrible.catherine, January 3, 2006 10:41:53 PM CET
i would be so into this video if that footage was all recent footage - lets just imagine that this was just shot but looks nice and old just like that, then i would be really impressedbigload, January 5, 2006 10:51:07 PM CET
read somewhere that harmony korine produced a short film by brent stewart that will be released on dvd in the near future. harmony is also close friends with david berman of the silver jews (and pretty much the rest of drag city) which i thought you all would be interested to know.
