Massive Attack - 'Live With Me' dir: Jonathan Glazer
Glazer's new video for Massive Attack. Audio cuts out halfway. Does anyone else have a better link?
Oops, their site just crashed. Looked promising though? Massive Attack goes polka! (Finally!)
Well now you got me all excited: The single will be accompanied by two videos directed by Jonathan Glazer. The first is more of a powerful short film than a pop video and the second, a performance video, Glazer's first music promos in six years. The 'short film' will be shown on 4Play on 3rd February. *PSSST - serpico sez no spamming - I think dude is of the impression spamming and looking for vids are one and the same...Non? Excuse my English...
some pretty powerful, understated stuff, these blues. strange, suspended tale. (wha's the deal with half the audio?)
that was kinda boring and one-note :(
what a bunch of cliches - glug, glug, glug - pissed are you? how come you've managed to plump the cushions on your habitat sofa to within an inch of their lives then? oh yes - keep rolling! keep rolling! one more corner of stairs - keep the momentum please!... Can someone fill the 27th empty bottle of vodka with more water please?....pah...
besides the kubrikian opening shot and staircase sequence, this was really not a great effort from the glazed one.
has he lost it? Birth was lame, this vid's lame.
Glazer's great work has a common theme: hermetic classical (in a philosophical sense) worlds where the protagonist is down but comes round to get back at his aggressors as the payoff. Think of his 2 greatest videos, and as well of "sexy beast".
Has he strayed from his theme?
1 x bottle of orange Absolut, 1 x bottle of Tia Maria, 1 x small bottle of champagne and 1 x bottle Stolichnaya vodka (in the shop). 2 x can of Carling lager and 4 x further empty bottles of Stolly vodka on the kitchen table.
a) no self respecting alcoholic would deliberately mix their drinks up like that b) I don't care how hardcore she is, she'd be dead.
I love the town cryer at the start and the stairs at the end, but the rest of it just didn't ring true.
Seeing that there is only half the audio and that the posted link is coming from a post shop... one has to wonder if this is a finished video. Lets considered that it may not be. If it isnt finished we are screening someones unfinished work. If it is finished ... its definitely not what we would expect from him but who wants to see people repeat themselves anyhow. I'd rather see someone take a new approach and fail then be redundant personally.
Jonathan Gazer is the best video director ever!!!! Have you seen his dvd by the director's label. Just amazing!!! I hope one day my work will be reconized in the same category of him, it will be such an honor!! don't miss also the work of michael palmer. There are genius out there!!!!!!!
You Tube upload of the video (with audio) that was broadcast on UK's 4Play show.
Glazer's supposed to do another video (performance only I think) for the alternate version of this song.
Good copy now at Boards.
Finally watched this full-audio version - I thought it was very well done, even with the exaggerated alcoholic intake and exaggerated tumble (I think that was the point, though - Glazer's artistic statement).
Overall it was moving, and a nice addition to Glazer's reel.
I personally thought this was a good effort. Good performance - understated and disturbing. Really enjoyed it. I kept expecting something really horrible to happen to her by the end of the piece - death, rape - something along those lines. But by not falling for that, Glazer keeps the focus on the everyday horror of her alcholism.
