Band of Horses "The Funeral" dir. Matt Lenski
The footage comes from Willy Lenski, who I'm guessing is Matt's father? I'm not sure if he's dead or not.. I'm also not sure what this vid's about, but I suppose there are some Band of Horses fans here? MOV
The video is about an alcoholic and a car accident. It's excellent.
beautiful-sad.
Great song, beautiful video. Really excellent mournful tone.
I'm assuming this is footage his Father shot some years back that he re-edited and added the horse effect to.
Its nice that he can bond with/honor with his father through using his foootage to make an interesting video, fitting as ask-art says that Willy Lenski's primary subject is "Allegory"
When I want to bond with my dad I have to throw whiskey bottles at the trains with him.
My Morning Jacket meets The Shins
So maybe this is the first video created by a father/son combo, but that doesn't make it a good one.
(I am fully expecting someone will try to prove me wrong about the father/son assumption. And no, brothers/cousins/sisters don't count)
new mov and old mov recovered.
Mill NY Go Retro for Band of Horses Mill NY Colorist Tom Poole and Rockhard Films Director Matt Lenski have just finished working on a music video called "The Funeral"—the latest release from Band of Horses ' 2006 album "Everything All the Time". When Matt first heard "The Funeral" he instantly knew the right visuals to use. As the son of Willy Lenski, an experimental filmmaker/Fartist, Matt grew up amongst his father's eclectic archive of film and multimedia projects. Consequently, it was a sequence of black and white 16mm footage his father shot in New York City in the 1970's that he knew would compliment the melodic tones of the Seattle band. When the project came to The Mill, the only remaining format of the footage was a previously transferred VHS. Tom was tasked with a tape-to-tape transfer, bringing contrast to the black and white project. Tying the piece together, Tom enhanced the footage for a more rustic film look, reverting back to the feel of the original 16mm framework.
