Arctic Monkeys - Leave Before the Lights Come On (Director : John Hardwick)
Here's the new video for the new single from the British band, the Arctic Monkeys. Kate Ashfield plays the main role as the woman, while Paddy Considine plays as the man who helps her. The video was produced by Warp X films, which produced the scummy man films. Watch it to see what you think about it.

You can see the town of Sheffield in the background.

antdude, 7. August 2006, 05:25
Heh, that's one way to pick up guys. ;)

I wouldn't mind her, but she's not attractive. :(

Big name casting (Kate Ashfield & Paddy Considine)but it doesn't hold my interest for long and it doesn't work with the track.

oh yes: nice video.

icedtea1996, 7. August 2006, 12:20
having seen it on youtube last night, i was sure it must be a new jamie thraves video - since hes been back recently, has worked with both actors already and its just such a "thraves-structure" - very very narrative, with a twisted idea in the end and not much connection to the song or the band, just an excuse to get a budget for a nice short film idea - typical thraves ;)

P.S.: its youtube, so hard to tell: but there are some switches in visual quality, almost seeming like film when showing the girl (nostalgic, romantic) and digital/higher quality film when showing the boy (reasonable, rational, accountable,...male ;) - what u think.

I think Paddy should just have given her a push and we could be done with it

I think mr icedtea is right. I believe this was produced by factory films (who rep thraves) and not hla (who rep hardwick). It doesn't look like the finished grade, so looks like someone 'alf-inched (took) it from the avid...

It says on the Arctic Monkeys website that John Hardwick directed and Warp X films produced

scooper, 7. August 2006, 15:54
so it does!

benroll, 7. August 2006, 15:59
I saw it on MTV2 the other day. It is graded in two completely different ways. I mentioned to someone at the time that it was a bit confusing. I guessed it was going to have some kind of significance at the end.... but if it did, I missed it.

Good Grief! It looks well dodgy like that! I'll try and find out a bit more from the TK colourist...

I can't for the life of me tell what the grade looks like which is unfortunate as that could greatly enhance the vid.
I enjoyed this video, I thought the direction on Paddy for most of the first half left me wanting a little more arc from him, but that could have been just because of the poor vid quality.
She is fantasic and they are both well cast.
I actually very much like the song for the edit.
However, the whole circular thing never gets me going.
I would like to have seen her run right off that roof at full speed at the end. That would have made me sit up and exclaim or something like that. It might have been a much more satisfying ending to have that last shot be mid air.

I think Paddy Considine is the best actor working today. I could watch him boil an egg. The man is a genius.

Couldn't place where I knew the girl from. Then I remembered Shawn of the Dead.

I like it its cute and scary.
