WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS wins best video at MTV Europe awards!
This isn't a new video post, but it's pretty awesome news.
QT here, if you haven't seen it yet... Dir: Rozan & SchmelzAnyway, that's not the best part, and a cookie to anyone who can dig up a clip of this...
"Kanye West was apparently furious that he didn't win an MTV award for Best Video last night. And there you were thinking he was a bit of a good egg...
When Justice stepped up to claim their prize for best video to 'We Are Your Friends', Kanye stormed the stage and started whining like a reet spoiled brat.
Like a typically flatulent Yank, West started swearing his head off, saying that he should have won because the video for his 'Touch The Sky' "cost a million dollars, Pamela Anderson was in it. I was jumping across canyons." Ha, and you were beaten by a hot lass with tin foil legs and a painted man.
He added, "If I don't win, the awards show loses credibility." Tosspot!"

I always wonder what Europeans feel about the show in general? I always find them kind of messy and dubious, but I was raised on American MTV.
Kanye won Best Hip-Hop, btw. Congrats to R&S! 'Tis a great vid to win.
They probably don't find it as credible as Mr. West seems to.
great video, saw it couple months ago... great to see that mtv europe awards still have sane decisions when it comes to Best Video - thanks to this years VMA decision, the US-version truly lost the little left credibility (didnt judges use to vote for best video? to keep girlies voting for stupid videos just because some handsome boys are in it?)
haha, i like kanyes music, but what the f. the video is not really good - sure, it was fun when nirvana and beastie boys did the retro-stuff-homages... but it stopped being funny (let alone original!) with that robbie williams supreme video. what is it with people and homages by the way... have anyone reach for his hat with a door closing in a movie and everyones is catching breath from all the laughing about an indy-referece.
god bless europe.
And finally, after all, we know what he would do if he didn't win.

both videos beat the hell out of that horrid Panic! At The Disco video that won in the U.S. I would have been satisfied even if Kanye won, but his storming to the stage reminds me of when he stormed to the stage at the MVPA awards in LA 2 years ago. Anyone remember that?
There was no security so he just ran on up there and started spouting off about how he is single-handedly going to change the music video genre, and how his work is above and beyond all others. i think his tirade went on for about 10 minutes...literally. i don't know how chris milk gets such good videos out of the shmuck, but i admire him for it.
I'm going to have to agree that Kanye's Touch The Sky video was one of the better spots of last year, at the very least it was light years ahead of Panic! (the weakest video to win in the entire history of the award). Strange that it seemed to not get much airtime on MTV.
Good for Justice. Hopefully being a part of Kanye drama gets them some press in the US.
I am very glad to see a european video winning a european video award, no offence my American brothers and sisters but it's nice to see that it's not about the most expensive video or the biggest star.
Shame about Kanye acting like a child though.
I was out shopping earlier and I said to my self. Why am I shopping when European electro musicians are slaving away on under budgeted music videos...... KANYE WEST DOESN'T CARE ABOUT EUROPEAN ELECTRO ARTISTS...... There I said it.
Looks like sumone should come up with a 'Kayne West does community service' vid if u ask me!
I HAVE to know Chris Milk's take on this. Thoughts Chris?
killer video and the only european made nomination
its not often that mtv gets things right but for once 'justice' has been done
arf!

how pathetic! unbelievable! i'm glad, "we are your friends" made it.
by the way, it's not justice who stepped up. don't know who these guys are.
the band are simian but its all about the justice remix
i like the parody single cover very much! why not? niiiice!
Partizan's answer to Kanye:
I've always loved the Justice vs Simian video. Rozan & Schmelz are very talented directors. I'm happy to see MTV awarding music videos of lesser known artists that are 100% concept. Imagine that, judging a video based solely on the merits of the video alone. Very progressive EU.
As to our video, I would have thought there was a slightly better justification of its merit than it cost a million dollars.
Antville, in general, liked it. I'd change my comment to 'pretty damn good' after seeing it on TV a bunch.. Certainly one of the best MTV videos of the year.
Agreed. I think it may have suffered from a Kanye backlash that seemed to kick in shortly after he started saying things that made absolutely no sense. Great video Chris, I still think you're one of the most talanted MV directors out there.
Justice interviewed by vice about the incident. vice.typepad.com
Kanye at MTV News.. I'll copy it here cuz their site is annoying:
West told the media he was upset because he had the best video, admitting, "I haven't seen [the Justice vs. Simian video]. Possibly it could have been quite good, but no way better than 'Touch the Sky.' That is complete bullsh--. I paid a million. Obviously it's not all about the money, but the response it got transcended everything, it really made great TV. It took a month to film; I stood on a mountain; I flew a helicopter over Vegas. I did it to be the king of all videos and I wanted to walk home with that award."
He chalked up the Justice vs. Simian win to some "spread the love bullsh--, 'Oh everyone should have an award'. Please, press people, print 'Kanye says f--- that!"
Speaking to Kash afterward, in classic Kanye fashion, rather than apologizing for raining on Simian's parade, West said he hoped his intrusion would not be edited down or chopped up, but played in its entirety. "I just went up there and I talked my sh-- onstage," he said. "Just as long as they don't edit my part, I'll be good."
--Justice vs. Simian is up to 96K hits on YouTube..
--setanor: the QT seems to have been moved to here
The saga continues.. mtv uk:
Speaking to MTV UK, he said, "I don’t have anything against the group that won. I’m gonna download their album right now. I didn’t mean to be offensive in any way. I love you guys. I never heard of you (but) I am your friend."
Anyway I hope this gets ppl to watch R&S's video.
