Liquid Liquid "Cavern" dir. Oskar Fischinger, ed. Richard McGuire (1997 via 1927)


The Elfriede Fischinger Trust has already squashed a YouTube copy of "Cavern", featuring an edited version of Fischinger's Seelische Konstruktionen, but here's a shoddy, overdubbed clip of it. If you get green squares, try reloading.

This is one of the most historically complicated music videos in existence - and it looks like it was shot atop an Oxy pad. Konstruktionen was originally a silent film.

For future reference: VideoLan records MP4 RTSP streams!

Launch the program and select "Open Network Stream"



Insert this URL in the RTSP field:

88.198.11.165

and check the Stream/Save box.



Click on Settings and choose a filename. Select a MP4 container. Leave the audio and video section unselected.



Click OK and OK again.
Wait. Don't worry about the wrong timing.
The resulting clip will surprisingly open in Quicktime too!

And anyway the entire piece has been edited to fit the track.
         
is not the item I pointed to the silent original (or at least the 1970 restored version)?
         
with a little help from qtpro, i now have a simulacrum that's good enough for me (the edits only started around 2min's from what i can tell...)
