viva antville! happy 2007!
I think these are all pretty great; I'm really glad things got spread out - the only multiple award winner is Jaron Albertin who totally deserves both.
The only shut-out I can think of is "Knights of Cydonia."
While I thought the Hot Chip video was amusing I was surprised it was nominated and shocked that it won - and by a wide margin. I don't think I would even put it in my top 25.
But great year, everyone! Now go vote for worst video, to be followed by nominations for smelliest director.
A+. All around.
I think the Hot Chip win reflects the readership of this site. That video appealed to people involved and interested in music video production. Knights of Cydonia was a better video for general audiences.
ben dickinson = robbed
Top work, prog! Three cheers! Winners too: big ups to those who be puttin' it down and pickin' it up.
Next year when you fix the vote, do it before the balloting rather than after: that way you won’t hurt the feelings of those audience members who innocently and enthusiastically voted, who still feel that their votes should have counted and that while each of the entries may have deserved to win, the ones with the most votes(Ramon Bloomberg and "Motus") did win, and won FAIR AND SQUARE to boot.
Yes: most of the video i've (innocently and enthusiastically) voted for didn't won. But: the nominies were all high quality videos, so: who cares?
I'm really happy (and proud) to be in there. Well done. Thanx everybody!
I agree wiv Capt its disappointing 'Knights of Cydonia' neva made a showing No other complaints
This post got wired, static, hael'd, and shot.
ovelha'd - alarm-clock'ed for the rest of us. (props to shots for keeping robo's john peel.)
Great list, can't really argue with it too much. A Knights of Cydonia win for something would have been nice but my main suprise is that Patrick Daughters got robbed for best director. True he put out a few dissapointments this year, but only because he made nine fucking videos. At least three of which were amazing while the others were all at least decent. Not to detract from Jaron because he's obviously talented, but he won mainly on the strength of his Dr. Blind video. And one video does not a director of the year make.
Then again I don't think Daughters really needs any help from Antville to get work, so whatever.
hot chip mov via stash, who link here. And a making of too: sweeeeet.
