Cheers for the comments- I was actually inspired by the works of Zbig Rybczynski. Inparticular "LE NOUVEAU LIVRE". We don't get much exposure to experimental european works here in Australia but when I do it tends to leave an impression. There is a couple of retrospective dvds of his early works.
