Mika - Grace Kelly (Dir. Sophie Muller)
I adore this song. I adore Sophie Muller. I adore this video.
I adore links that work.
inexplicably, my firefox hates oilfactory, sending all direct links back to a main page. safari, on the other hands, fares fine. go figure. (song & video too annoying to comment on.)
Im just curious when this Mika is going to step in front of a bus. And DIE!. This might win the award for most insulting track to earn a video (EVER)
Ok, you wholesale steal Queen's sound, Freddie's voice, but you really have to go and steal his Mercury moves to boot?
im afraid you will all have to get used to mika - he is going to be absolutely huge
Honestly, hassinator, I think you're wrong. Guess it depends on what huge means. He's simply not likable - awkward - and creepy. He's like the kid in high school who has everything necessary to be popular but people just don't like him and he can't figure it out. I mean something essential, not his clothing choices.
well at least he says he is "trying to be like freddie" in the song, but thats putting it mildly. the video was "eh" to me. started off interesting but then became a photo shoot at 24fps. oh, and they really need to work on his hair if hes gonna be huge.
"why don't you like me??!" lol
at first i was like, 'this video is annoying!' then i started to mimic mika. it was fun.
he's not going to be huge, to forced. fade away. seems sweet and all. but like queen for dummies.
umm...i just watched it again and...well...i got really annoyed. like, i cringed even. had to stop it. i don't think i'll be mimicing mika anymore. i should take a shower.
Just based on the track and video alone, I could see this guy, or at least this song becoming a modest hit. It's fun and Sophie Muller did a great job of making him seem likable. I agree that he's coming very close to becoming a Mercury impersonation, but I don't think that'll actually keep people from buying the record or enjoying the song. If anything, the Queen comparisons will provide the sort of hook that the mainstream media will eat right up.
The video idea n package is quite entertaining, but I can't help thinking the fact that Mr Mika could be a stunt double for Leo Sayer, leaves the whole exercise at a considerable disadvantage
If ur gonna be like Freddie then u needs a moustache Mika and it don't go wiv that there perm lad! Sorry I tell a lie "Rock on Tommy"
"you make me feel like daaancing!" - robod - what spectres have you stirred...
"im afraid you will all have to get used to mika - he is going to be absolutely huge"
You're probably right John. But I predict (fingers crossed everybody) a 'flash in the pan' popularity for Mika. He will be The Darkness of 2007.
If there's such a thing as divine justice he'll be opening supermarkets in Beirut as promotion for his 2nd album.
Right, now I've got that off my chest I should add that this video is almost as hideous as the song. Sophie Muller is about as close as one can get to a genuine 'untouchable' in music videos but she's got feet of clay when it comes to trying to gild this particular turd.
So this guy bases his entire career on somebody else's voice?
on macs, Safari, firefox and Mozilla base browsers you have to copy and past it into the address bar if the link doesnt go to a html page or an embeded file.
and the video... i wawas eating cerial and spent 80 percent fo the time look at the serial a bit too cutesie (cutesy?), and i mean the guy not the girl... it seems heavily aimed at a younger female audience, visualy i like the first 9 seconds of the duet witht the little tot "00;00:01..blah...you reduced to tears..blah...00;09:01" i didnt realy get the part when he was just like tripping out into space, oh so music video-ish i guess... throw a little gaze in to make it seem sureal, is it real? is it really happening? is it all in his head? did he take the same thing the guy in the Kasaibian video took?
where can i download this mp3!!!??
"im afraid you will all have to get used to mika - he is going to be absolutely huge"
Quite correct hassinator I'm just watching Ch 4's 'Friday Night Project' where he's appearing on top of a 40ft high stage
Sorry lads 'n lasses 'e aint missed his footing yet 'n sustained a fatal trauma consistent with such a fall But theres still hope Its just gone to the commercial break
Mika got added to MTV USA, of all places. Probably VH1 too. Sophie did a nice job with the vid, really. Mika's scary.
!!!! Mika has 9.4m + .48m hits on YouTube.
