Kaiser Chiefs "Ruby", Dir. Stylewar
really rather good - this will be in high rotation until the summer
erm... i found track&vid pretty godawful. i almost regret posting it.
isn't "godawful" a bit harsh? anyway, i liked it. it's like sim city the video!
frickin heck, you got to admire the work put into this. I agree the song is poo but it looks lovely and nice variety of angles and composition makes it stand out from your average green-screener. Doesn't go anywhere though (apart from nightime and that was obvious)...
I find the animation quite well done but fail to see any reason why it appears with this song, in this video with these dudes. Extraneous indeed.
Why the shit over this vid? The song, IMHO, is great, and why does every video need some kind of moralistic message? Its just some green screen fun, kids, no reason to hate. If you want, inject some kind of meaning about selling out and/or capitalism. Looks great, I think.
Antville is never quite sure what to do with these sort of videos.
Great track and great video.
nobody said it had to be moralistic, or even have meaning. I think most people will agree that a video should represent the song in some form or content. No hatin' just commenting.
They built that city with rock and roll, I believe.
i dunno - stylewar have done this model architecture thing before and to very subtle effect. here the effectery, apart from lamely recalling other oversize rockers liliputting downtown, just had f*'all to do with the rather pedestrian (& utterly bored) rubyrubyrubying.
progosk i hear thee but from a commissioning point of view this is entertainging and im guessing it will bear repeated screenings
it didn't go out with a huge budget and the band inisted they didn't want to do something based on the lyrics so this more than does the job
i like it maybe because it reminds me of the doozers in fraggle rock
Hass, do you know the actual budget on this? Also, lots of great videos have absolutely nothing to do with the actual content of the song, when did that become a reason to not like something?
jeebus! that was awesome.
You know, I really liked the video.....I just wish it had been for another band. A wasted opportunity to do something all round brilliant.
stylewar came through on this one. i likey. i am a fan of watching music videos on mute anyway. cheers.
I think that's Mika on bass! He is going to be huge.
mika is number one in the uk on downloads only two weeks ahead of release
he is huge - its official
I be these poor video directors worked on this for month and made shit money- only for a bunch of antville nerds to comment on it- Yawn
"Antville is never quite sure what to do with these sort of videos." These sort being performance videos.
The video really is quite good. Had the song been a couple notches better it would have been great. StyleWar really are incredible at what they do. I hope they do more this year.
shed no tears for stylewar - I doubt they do videos for the dosh. this was extremely well crafted as always but I personally wouldn't watch this more than once.
Again, it's a shame the money isn't there. I'm hoping the Internet's future will help solve this problem.
Wyeth..I always knew you were Starship fan
DVD MPEG-2 File (190 MB):
some info at the site: stylewar's coke spot - much better than the music-video. stick to commercials!
DREARY as fuck.
And not half as cool as it's OBVIOUS inspiration
the videos good. the song sucks. and the band is dreadful
thanks for the info: The Hoosiers "Goodbye Mr A" (dir. Diamond Dogs)
not so bad. I do admire the work put into it while the haircuts take a bit of my attention away. . .
