My Chemical Romance - I Don't Like You (dir. Marc Webb)

I dont know. The whole time I was waiting for something real to happen Instead of just a performance or the characters just standing there.
BTW
This CD is the shit. Anyone who criticizes My Chemical Romance and their departure from: crappy-labeledasanotherGreenDayripoff/conventionalemo-music hasnt really listened to the album.
Wow could the singer have over sold the acting to the camera anymore? Didnt really like the video was pretty boring, it seems Webb has a thing for trees now? AFI - Love like winter had trees, Evanescence - Lithium looked like the same set dressings as the AFI one and this has a tree.
Evanesence "Lithium" was directed by Paul Fedor, but it did have trees.
That should look hot on TV.
As for posting youtube links first: eh? Probably okay when it comes to pop acts, but otherwise..
otc: if you don't mind a reputation as a u2berus...
Usually hate yougoogle videos, but the quality on this one was decent. Probably because the label posted it instead of some kid in the midwest.
Visually, I thought the video was good, but I think mainchara was right. Nothing really happened. The photosonic shots of the amp, guitar, etc were great. Hey, anything shot at 1000fps looks great
didnt really get that video. didnt really like that video. But the guy and the girl sure did look creeeepy....
does this mean that chemical romance does black face?
*yawn*
I love those explosions
Damn it hakai, you stole my reference! This vid is David Slade's AFI meets Marc's Regina Spektor. But I think it works for this artist.
that AFI video is pretty cool for what it is. though it reminds me STP's "Sour Girl" (which I happen to really like - guilty pleasure?)
oh- same director. David Slade.
I think this was the first teletubbies inspired video.
question- were the color changes actual lighting or was it just a telecine pass?
Wasn't that this, Marc?
Same director, btw
Damnit if we don't start a David Slade thread.. He had a thing for furries..
I liked the AFI girls not grey video, had more going on in it. Visually it looked cool as well.
Wait you saying that Marc did that aphex twin video Kev?
Nope, David Slade did.
I couldn't watch that for more than 40 seconds without wanting to punch him in the face and tell him to man the hell up.
I think the david slade/marc webb pepsi challenge is unfair when you take in to consideration the budgets... david slade made those videos back when $300k was a low budget....
I'm certain that the "girls not grey" video cost over $400k -- it was AFI's first single off their first major label release -- and the label was dreamworks who always spent silly money on videos.
I can't imagine marc's video budget was more than $250k....
So I must say I think marc's video is a pretty darn good video for the money --- photosonics, creepy visual effects, and a rocking performance that makes me realize the my chem lead singer is a star.
All these responses and only 1 mention of black face? No matter what else is going on in this video, I just couldn't get past this fact. Marc Webb has made some good videos, but black face? It's crazy how unaware and uneducated people really are.
Are you kidding, changetimes? Black face? That's not Al Jolson-style black face, that's Halloween, werewolf-style black face.
What about white face!? And what about blue face!?

coady -- okay, so, the guy's not shuckin' and jivin', but when you're an imagemaker you need to be mindful of these things. Know the history, that's all I'm saying.
I agree, changetimes, but are you saying that the application of dark makeup to the face (covering the face) is "black face"? If I thought it was black face then of course I agree it would be offensive.
I have personal experience with this: I did a Chelsea rooftop Halloween concert with my old band Motorsoft some years ago. The band had metal roots. I wore black makeup on my face because it was halloween and I was trying to convey a general other wordliness for the event. My outfit was also black. I consider myself pretty informed, and was surprised when later I heard that someone in the audience (a white man) refer to what I'd done as black face.
AFI has the same "black face" in the David Slade "Girls Not Grey", it looks cool - get it! Can we not discern context anymore. changetime, were you at coady's halloween party?
mov. Previously on U2b: A.F.I. "Girl's Not Grey" – C.J. Bolland "Sugar Is Sweeter" – Stone Temple Pilots "Sour Girl" – Aphex Twin "Donkey Rhubarb", all directed by David Slade. Up next: Wolf Rilla's "Village of the Damned" (1960).
Music is fine, the vid with its slightly surreal love interest is watchable for all that, still I can't be sure one ov these didn't escape, n' grow up to star in the clip!
