El-P is a detainee subjected to heavy abuse in a nameless prison camp for "Smithereens," Director Cassidy Gearhart's new video for El-P's latest record "I'll Sleep When You're Dead" on Definitive Jux records. Premiering exclusively on NYTimes.com, the video mixes slow motion photography with a docu-styled roving camera to accentuate the chaos of a Guantanamo Bay-esque environment.

hard track, but: this style feels pornographic with respect to the subject matter - almost like just another take on gangsta cool.(ps: interesting that nyt thing, not least for the fact they're the only ones who've managed to do undownloadable flv streaming.
