BAUER - Dock Surf (Dir.: Mariano Goldgrob)

The argentinians Bauer are a great band in the vein of Cyann & Ben, Migala & Thee more Shallows, all blessed with Mogwai´s spirit. This "spacey surf rock" song has been shot in Rio (Brazil), with a super 8 camera, and it´s included in the second album of the group called "En Otra Ciudad". It's funny how Super 8 can always confer some sort of cool to almost anything... a sort of grainy mystery. Whoooo!Having said that, though the treatment's right, it looks rather like it's been shot on the fly, a cobbling together of chance sequences. It feels a bit loose.

love the surf rock, love the super 8. although not the most amazing video i've ever seen, i loved it. Good call on going with the wide aspect ratio and the tinted color look.kevathens, July 8, 2007 11:40:26 PM CEST
Some of the best surf super 8 stuff I've seen lately is from Thomas Campbell (of Unsane "Scrape" fame). He did a short film on Super 8 with Tommy Guerrero called Ear Eye Data Poop, and apparently had another recent film called Sprout, shot on 16mm, whose trailer also has Guerrero music in it. Good stuff..Here's a crappy copy of something from Data Poop called Soulminer
