Gianna Nannini - Fotoromanza (Michelangelo Antonioni)
actually quite fascinating. the memorable line from this is "our love-affair is a gas chamber", which explains the moribund closing performance.
might be interesting to look up other auteur music videos... (we've had Lars von Trier.)
let's see: Wim Wenders - Eels "Souljacker pt.1"
Jean-Luc Godard (sorta)
- "Sympathy for the Devil" with The Rolling Stones
- trailer "Masculin, Féminin" (song: Chantal Goya "Tu m'as trop menti")
- Nouvelle Vague "Dance With Me" also:
- "Soigne Ta Droite" with Les Rita Mitsouko (link?)
Eels - Souljacker part I (Wim Wenders) mov=mov mov - EPK rm "Soigne ta droite" (1987) is actually a feature film consisting of «three intersecting, vignette-like "stories"», one of them «involves a rehearsal session by a two person techno-pop band named Rita Mitsouko» (quotes from PopMatters). However in 1996 Godard did direct a music video for France Gall's song "Plus haut" (excerpt; do the RSA trick!). The video, called "Plus oh !", was only shown once, Saturday, April 20, 1996 on M6 since Godard did not acquire copyright clearance for all of the film clips and other works of art he had used. «Godard, pour se préparer, a visionné en chaîne plein de clips sur MTV. Puis il a dit à France Gall, en lui montrant le poste de télé : "On ne va pas faire ça quand même, vous êtes d'accord."» (Charles Tesson in: Cahiers du cinéma #581 juillet-août 2003)
