Kaiser Chiefs 'Angry Mob' Dir: W.I.Z.
Funny & unnerving. Quite naturalistic by WIZ standards.
This song sucks. Video is alright.
can someone explain the premise to me?
I love this vid, perfect tension till the end, it could have gone down, but would ruin the question: who's is the angry mob? And that's your answer, captain.
wow. Liked this.
Captain Marc- are you British? I a not sure whether these kind of hen do's happen anywhere else in the world, but in the UK sometimes women turn into rampant horn-wearing mischief-makers when they go out for their hen do's. So its basically about one of these parties being rejected entry to a snooty restaurant and the tension that follows on from that.
p.s. Is that video?
That was great, enjoyed the performances.
um, i know it's sacreligious to say it, but really felt like that could've been better. is it just me, or does that look like someone apart from WIZ shot it? none of the usual care over shots. cool idea, but not really firing on all cylinders if you ask me...
definitely some good things going on here, but as a fan of WIZ's i expected a little more. felt a little flat to me.
What the hell was this? Pass.
Don't care for the track, but the clip is certainly interesting!
more scenes from the class struggle - this could be viewed as a companion piece to dizzy rascal and is as fabulous as ever

yeah i'd have to agree with hassinator, this works very well in relation to the dizzee video.
just posted a small interpretation of it <a href=obtusity.blogspot.com">here.
Thanks for that obtusity.
WIZ makes reverse music videos. Instead of the video emanating from the song or band, WIZ (usually) makes the narrative the driving force and uses the song as soundtrack, which was a good idea in this case because it makes the song better.
In other words, here he stripped the Kaiser Chiefs of their persona, which is a great way to go about a music video. For 4 minutes you get to forget about records labels and rock stars. And WIZ has the talent to pull it off a lot. I'm not sure anyone would disagree with that.
The trouble is you have to think, which is why I'm glad obtusity is here to save the day. ;)
I watched a little of this a while ago (mainly from the beginning) and the whole way through yesterday for the first time. I couldn't figure out what I thought to begin with... but I found myself waking up this morning thinking about it and knew I had to watch it again. How often does that happen? not as often as it should! Yesterday I described it as "heavy handed social commentary from Wiz" to someone, but today I found myself taking it all back... this isn't heavy handed in any way. This video has subtlety and naturalism. The performances from the girls, the diners and the band are really good (sometimes unsure of Ricky's perf, but may be down to camera angle around the limo). The concept is smart. It twists the whole preconception of red-top-reading hooligans as the enemy and puts it onto the audience as the baying masses. I don't think it has the usual veneer of Wiz perfection and consideration, but perhaps thats a good thing.
Oh yeah... and what ever happens to the metal bench they pick up just before the end? Didn't fancy chucking it through the window?? Not even a shot of them swinging it?
Oh dear. More sixth-former politics from Wiz. 'The trouble is you have to think.' really?
It's tough but you'll get it.
So one director makes videos where you have to think? This is too much of a strain? Jeez and I'm quoting myself.
If there's one thing that british rock stars have taught me it's that rich british people fucking suck.
excellent casting! the ending could have done with a bit more considering the build-up..
late to the party, but: just a bit plump (the politics & the styling, curiously); so the band (& all of us) are the blasé/cynical bystanders/go-betweens?
So wait, why do all these ladies want to get into a bad restaurant in a mall?
My favorite touch is the locking of that puny little lock at the foot of that glass door.
That moment is the real coup of this vid.
I thought this was virtually perfect (as a thesis), although it could have been better as loz said. It could have been more robust, imo, more fleshed out.
And I don't know what I was on writing that long paragraph.
