Latest addition to the Modular roster.
Spiccia Site (No mov yet tho)
this looks pretty great on youtube.
interesting song; doesn't really sound like a single. interesting video; but nothing that specifcally grabs me.
has some pretty good moments, bit dodgy where it seams skies have been dropped in?
Would love to see a hi res mpeg thou, youtube aint doin it justice.
I loved it. great atmosphere, nice details and use of selective color palette.
Oh come on, there is no filmmaking here its all formula. Spiccia is a hack it’s the DP, Production designer, Costuming, Grading and editing that do all the work for him. There is nothing new here there is no effort its just slotting pretty pictures together that have some vague symbolism and cutting the band in around it, its wallpaper. Can we try harder than this please and not encourage people who suck up budgets from more interesting directors.?
i agree completely with vidbot.
have t'agree also, it does seem a bit of a chop suey!
I personally think this is one if Spiccia's better efforts. It's tone is perfect for the song. Great new band to watch out for also, have heard a lot of good things about these guys.
spot on vidbot
I think your being a bit harsh there vidbot. Afterall it is a 'directors' responsibitly to 'direct' each of those departmants to bring his or her vision to life. Thats what they do. Without those guys, no director (mostly) wouldn't be anything. Its easy for guys like us to lash out with jealous banter, but there is lot more to the game than your obviously aware of.
maybe this clip is best summed up by one of the comments on the youtube link, calling this video underwhelming and visually derivative - i.e boring, which as I understand is the directors job on a promo. but technically as an avid video fan it looks slick. next.
was just thinking this video reminds me of that end of fashion one with the tvs washing up on the beach and was wondering what was going on with australian music videos. Then i looked up spiccias website and found that he was responsible for that video too. Its the directors first responsability to come up with an interesting and unique concept especially in a field where there is so much creative freedom. Spiccia has failed in this respect on both these videos. The sad thing is that you could programme a robot to make a hundred videos like this and it seems the australian music industry would lap it up. Sad once again that modular has also sunk into this hole after moyes moved overseas.
