Janet Jackson "Feedback" Dir: SAAM (!!!)

looks like he's able to live out a piece of his Jackson 5 fantasy...

progosk, January 9, 2008 at 12:43:32 AM CET

verry slow start, but... i liked the end shot.

tocofan, January 9, 2008 at 12:51:52 AM CET

I'm not feeling it. Janet Jackson doesn't look comfortable dancing while sitting on planets. Weird eyecandy with strange 3D. Not a good video at all.

Notice how all US mainstream is sounding like daft punk lately?

lisanowak, January 9, 2008 at 1:06:46 AM CET

What's up with Janet's face? Is Plastic is the new black?

I'm gonna burn for that...

30f, January 9, 2008 at 2:29:09 AM CET

Nice to see Janet trying a director not in her typical wheelhouse. That being said, this is not great.

I often notice this on videos for artists that made huge money clips in the past - they cannot resist trying for that same epic bombast, even though they now have a (smaller) budget that matches their declining record sales. This feels like an imitation of "Scream" combined with that video she did with Busta and all the molten steel. Too bad the CG is not nearly as good. It CAN'T be as good, they probably spent a fraction of the $$ on this one.

So why try to do something that can't really be done well? Because the powerful artist is asking for (i.e. requiring) it.

The fact that the splashing CG milk backdrop is splashing milk and not towering future-buildings and zooming spaceships reveals the limitations of what they could do. Tech guys can answer better that I, but splashing milk has to be faster/easier to create than something more grandiose.

Placing a star in front of big things (city skylines, the Grand Canyon) makes the artist look big. Placing them in front of something really tiny (even cool looking slow-mo milk splashes) makes the artist look small.

As in the recent Britney "Piece of Me" video - we can see how the artist is not delivering the same ferociously charismatic performance they have in the past. Some of the onus for an underwhelming performance is on the director, but my guess is that it is hard for the 41 year old Miss Jackson to generate the same dance intensity she had at 22.

Some of that "Little Prince" stuff on the mini-planets in the first half was cool - and more of a low-fi approach to that kind of surrealism probably would have generated a better video for Janet. But chances are that she (and her people) only wanted more of the same "big" stuff they have done in the past.

At least no Pirate Nelly in this one.

vs, January 9, 2008 at 3:27:54 AM CET

30f, what is bigger than THE UNIVERSE?

fungible, January 9, 2008 at 4:45:18 AM CET

Ditto on the 41/22 thing.

And what's with all the heinous auto-tune? She can't sing anymore?

moonman, January 9, 2008 at 6:16:12 AM CET

someone played mario galaxy hehe

mva, January 9, 2008 at 7:50:06 AM CET

video doesn't fit the song at all

manorhousegardens, January 9, 2008 at 12:13:21 PM CET

The mini Planets were cool. I thought it was going to go somewhere with that. It went down hill for me after she jumped off the moon. If i was her i would of hung out there for a bit longer, rather than doing a lopez dance routine in milk while wearing a red Britney Cat-suit.

Not a great song either. I didn't really get much from it.

End shot cool though.

shut up, January 9, 2008 at 12:18:35 PM CET

great work Saam, happy to see you making some money! In terms of this site, its official for me, Im over it.

candles, January 9, 2008 at 2:19:39 PM CET

ditto above...

kevathens, January 9, 2008 at 2:30:08 PM CET

Ditto, although I feel the same way about the entire Internet, not just antville.

loz, January 9, 2008 at 4:11:44 PM CET

I like it... really, don't think you can expect anything more crazy from an artist of her standing & mainsteamity, and the ninjagimps work for me. milk drops & other imagery gave a nice nod to 'Can You Feel It' too (the best Jackson5 vid of all time)...

30f, January 9, 2008 at 4:58:10 PM CET

vs -

You are right. The small part was the second half of the video, but the planetary stuff was big. I prob made too much of that.

What does stand out regarding the big/small dichotomy is that in the big-budget past, there would have been some swooping, CG transition from the planetary level to the molecular level, but I would imagine that cash has dried up.

Once again, the smaller budget (which for Janet is still substantial, no doubt) is not the real problem in my eyes. The fact that they steamed ahead with an idea that was too grand for the checkbook is what makes this seem "less than."

bodysong, January 10, 2008 at 1:37:57 AM CET

Nestle crunch commercial!

julienlutz, January 10, 2008 at 4:14:13 PM CET

Hard to playa hate, but this video proves why antvilles favorite directors should remain in the lower budget realm and stay out of the mainstream.

quizmaster, January 10, 2008 at 5:08:54 PM CET

Some very nice parts to this although it is quite similar to some of his other work but hey he made some cash and got to direct janet jackson. Who in their right mind would say no if janet came up and said 'hey heres a truckload of cash, can you make me a video like one of your previous ones?' I also find it weird that people on this site get all uppety when somebody is obviously making more money then they are on videos. It seems like anything that is made for $5 and looks like somebodies university assignment gets cheers of approval but when somebody makes something slick, challenging or for a well known band or record label or has a budget higher then 10k it gets eaten alive with uneducated badmouthing. I agree with shutup, candles and kevathens... i am over this forum of mediocrity.

tocofan, January 10, 2008 at 5:13:58 PM CET

one word on the old mainstream vs. antville-controversy.

look at madonna's videos. she's mainstream but her videos are almost always the best!

progosk, January 10, 2008 at 5:49:34 PM CET

quiz, you find these mediocre? wow...

tsaccenti, January 11, 2008 at 1:23:02 AM CET

Respect to Janet for choosing an interesting director for this project.

dalerestighini, January 11, 2008 at 1:48:51 AM CET

tsacceni,

Respect? As if Hype, Francis, Dave and the "mainstream" directors are not interesting? Maybe not for this website, but at least they don't turn in average videos when they get a shot at a megastar like a Janet. This video is piss poor. Ya heard?

vs, January 11, 2008 at 2:03:57 AM CET

this thread is about to rule...

dalerestighini, less time blogging, more time in the solarium, I think it's your forte.

I'm also sick of this site.

Ya Heard?

quizmaster, January 11, 2008 at 12:03:08 PM CET

aaahhhhh!!!! bbc you seem confused over the basic concept of my last comment and my online history with progosk. Your comment makes no sense. You make no sense in connection with that comment. "yeah we'll be rich and famous"? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA You my friend are a gay. On the basis of your comment i bet the amputation of my penis that you make nothing of interest and have nothing of interest to say. You will never stand up and be heard. You will grovel and crawl, following whatever and whoever like a wet soggy turd until your boring demise.

PS you asked for it cuntface.

quizmaster, January 11, 2008 at 12:17:35 PM CET

dearest dalerestighini.... we CAN step outside then you can flex your tanning salon waxed abs and give me a daring wink. I will act all astonished as you tell me that you make music videos for major label emo bands and hip hop pseudo gangsters etc... You will whisper in my ear "maybe you would like to be in one of my music videos baby?" and i will blush and giggle. Later you will tit fuck me... my fake tan rubbing off onto your cock turning it tangerine. When coming into my face i will lick it from my cheek and say "oh oh Mr director... fuck me again, fuck me in the arse... PLEASE!!!! I want it so bad."

dalerestighini, January 11, 2008 at 3:49:21 PM CET

You so called supporters of music videos should be ashamed. Who runs this site? In the biz, we laugh at you. I'm with Soulja Boy right now, ya heard? We just work and collect, while you comment. PATHETIC.

In my hood, we do what we do, we roll how we roll. You know Factory Features prez right? So give him a call and get my number. We CAN continue this in person.

Beef is beef son. I'm at the gym, everyday, hustlin, pumpin, doing what I do for hatas like you.

My Raging Nation WILL take you over, ya HEARD?

arrr captain, January 11, 2008 at 4:05:01 PM CET

this thread is getting silly, remember that you're commenting on a music video for janet jackson.

2008 - year of perspective! (and the rat)

expectations will be the death of us all.

julienlutz, January 11, 2008 at 4:25:49 PM CET

Nice Rage! ... Thanks for the backing

We can only be insulted for so long ... We will respond. Kev, enough is enough. Game appreciates game.

parmezan, January 11, 2008 at 4:42:58 PM CET

dalerestighini,

buddy, in "the biz" WE laugh at plastic gangsta school-of-hype-williams wannabe dipshits like you who have no clue about the music video world outside of lil john/usher/souldier girl. Ya Heard?

What exactly is your "BIZ" sounds like you deal predominantly in prostitution/child slavery/penis enlargement/child sex trades

Your raging nation? huh? your raging nation of 90's lens filters? I think they already took it over... in 1995.

I'm at the beach everyday, catchin sharks with my bare hands, hustlin, harpooning blue whales and making sculptures out of the flesh. I swim 90 km everyday in the open ocean, I could crush your skull with my ass. I come here to try and heal the needy like yourself, serving up dolphin and banana smoothies. Sorry i'm out of beef.

Keep rollin' gangsta, don't hate the hater, hate the game.

Parmezan.

progosk, January 11, 2008 at 4:49:38 PM CET

julien 'lil x' lutz; dale resteghini. just for context...

trans_alt, January 11, 2008 at 5:28:36 PM CET

"as if hype williams is any good... i dont know who those other two are..." quiz, how can you call everyone uneducated and then tell Dale that he needs to catch up with the rest of the industry when you don't know who Francis Lawrence or Dave Myers is? It is so obvious from your postings that you're just a tourist. I hate to say it but this site is really losing its relevance fast because of all this bomb dropping. Most people I talk to in the industry say they don't go to this site anymore because of all the idiots. That's commissioners, EPs, reps - all the people that you D-level directors need to get work. Think about it

tsaccenti, January 11, 2008 at 5:39:56 PM CET

I think the music video timeline should be delineated by "Pre-Hype" and "Post-Hype" due to his massive impact and innovations he brought to the medium. Respect.

dalerestighini, January 11, 2008 at 7:04:36 PM CET

trans_alt & tsaccenti, now thats the shit I'm talking about. As a playa in the game doing this and doing that, Hype is the mang. Respect! Saam, I like your style, but you gots to stick to the indie thing, at least til that game gets tight. Who runs this website, kevathens? As a video fan with the state of the industry, you should be ashamed of yourself playboy. We do what we do, we do our art, we do it well.

Now, thats how we do, art is our thang son, the Raging Nation continues, YA HEARD?

lusk81, January 11, 2008 at 7:32:46 PM CET

Just so everyone knows who Dale Restighini is, I give you his own bio, word for word as it appears on his website:

DALE RESTEGHINI AKA 'RAGE' has proven himself to be the King of Urban Independent Cinema. With five feature films in five years, two of which have recently been acquired by ARTISAN ENTERTAINMENT, with some of the biggest names in Hip Hop, R and B and Metal no one else comes close to his level of expertise, commitment, realness, passion, talent and yes RAGE! Dale, in just four years has already cemented his legacy in film forever. Dale's story is extraordinary in many ways, especially considering where he started. He was born in Boston Massachusetts, adopted at 6 weeks of age and raised in a small suburban town called Framingham where he grew up listening to Rock groups like Foreigner, Rainbow, AC DC and Cheap Trick while managing to be a 'troubled' kid much of his life. Somehow along the way he ended up in New York City - the epicenter of Hip Hop's Universe and straightened out his life for good.

It's on the many film and television production sets Dale met legendary rapper BIGGIE SMALLS and others like PUFFY, RUSSEL SIMMONS, TREACH, YO YO, STICKY FINGAZ, MC LYTE and others jumping into the acting arena. Since those days, Dale's been paying his dues hard and has worked with or along side many of Hollywood's top talent. Be it as an actor on screen speaking or doing stunts along side them or reading lines with them or working as a production assistant Dale has remarkably worked on projects with such stars as ROBERT DENIRO, AL PACINO, HARRISON FORD, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGAR, MEL GIBSON, BEN AFFLECK, MATT DAMON, BRENDAN FRASER, TED DANSON, WHOOPIE GOLDBERG, STEVE MARTIN, DAMON WAYANS, JEFF BRIDGES, BARBARA STREISAND, WYNONA RYDER, JOHNNY DEPP, EARNIE HUDSON, ERIC ROBERTS, JEAN RENO, SAM ROCKWELL, MATTHEW MODINE, HANK AZARIA, MICHEAL MADSEN, DANIEL DAY LEWIS, GWYNETH PALTROW, SARAH JESSICA PARKER, WOODY HARELSON, ETHAN HAWKE, RICHARD DREYFUS, ARMAND ASSANTE, CHRIS COOPER, JOHN LEGUIZAMO, DANNY AIELLO, MEG RYN, BILL PAXTON, RAY LIOTA, MATTHEW BRODERICK, GREG KINEAR and esteemed directorssuch as MIKE NEWELL, SYDNEY POLLACK, TAYLOR HACKFORD, SYDNEY LUMET, FRANK OZ, FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA, JAMES CAMERON, JOSEPH RUBEN, ROLAND EMMERICH, ALFONSO CAURAN and others just to name a few.

Along the way Dale would ask anyone who would listen, questions about the biz. Some were nice, some were mean and some just didnt care either way but neither did Dale! He coined the now famous (in Hip Hop circles_'Let the sleepers sleep and the haters hate!

Dale's journey then lead him to finally creating RAGING NATION FILMS and with the help of his now wife, KIM he produced first full-length feature film, 'COLORZ OF RAGE', which is based on his own life experiences as a young man involved in an interracial relationship. In the film, the couple is struggling in New York City - not only with a society that is critical about love between black and white, but their individual quests to find themselves amidst the fury of their personal lives. With a budget of only $25,000, Dale created a film, featuring rap superstars such as REDMAN and QUEEN PEN that was immediately picked up for domestic and worldwide distribution for a quarter of a million dollars.

Soon after the instant success of 'COLORZ OF RAGE', Dale understood his timing was imperative. 'The Blair Witch Project' was soon released and created an uproar in the film industry. Dale saw the opportunity with this new genre of filmmaking to create an urban-spaghetti-western-styled spoof which would generate exactly what his demographic audience was yearning for. 'DA HIP HOP WITCH' was a film thrown together by a rag-tag crew of cameras and talent and it's about five white kids that get lost in the projects looking for an alleged Hip Hop Witch! Without a script and real talent Dale, defied the 'Hatters' once again that told him his idea would never work. With a budget of only $20,000, Dale managed to cast the biggest selling recording star on the planet EMINEM in a featured cameo in addition to (multi platinum selling) MOBB DEEP, VITAMIN-C of 'Dracula 2000', RAH DIGGA "13 Ghosts', 'MTV's CARMEN', CHARLIE BALTIMORE 'Spike Lee's Bamboozled', JA RULE 'Fast and Furious', Turn it Up, PRAS 'Higher Ed', 'Turn it Up', LA THE DARKMAN-KILLA PRIEST-HELL RAZAH of THE WU TANG CLAN, VANILLA ICE and many other prominent artists in the rap scene.

Dale's creative genius made it possible for him to take individual clips of these celebrated personalities and blend them into a film. This small side project, which he shot in only six days ended up selling for close to a half million dollars. These successes has catapulted DALE RESTEGHINI to become major player in the film industry and garnered him both national and international press in both print and television. Still, to his amazement, after earning both financial success and critical acclaim from those who are up to date and current, Dale could not find legitimate interest from Hollywood to fund his bigger projects. So what does he do? He slaps them in the face again with yet an even better project titled 'Urban Massacre'. UM is a Hip Hop spoof of the Scary Movie series. Dale even produced the soundtrack to this straight to video phenomenon which boasts hot tracks from Hip Hop stars such as NORE, KURUPT, GURU and LI'L CEASE. The film was shot in 12 days and posted in 90 days. It has sold over 100,000 unites translating into over $700,000 against the paltry $75,000 it cost him to produce!

Dale has been described as 'White' SPIKE LEE and his prominent standing among the hip-hop community has crossed over every facet of the industry and his accomplishments are being heralded as quality pieces of film that rank among the first works of SPIKE LEE, THE HUNDLIN BROTHERS, TONY SCOTT, JOHN SINGLETON and JOHN WATERS. Dale's films have also earned the merits of the URBANWORLD FILM FESTIVAL, which not only show cased 'COLORZ OF RAGE' as an OFFICIAL SELECTION in 1999, but also invited him to present 'DA HIP HOP WITCH' as a featured OFFICIAL SELECTION at URBANWORLD 2000. Not ever one to be stereo-typed, Dale recently sold an indie documentary to EMI/KING BISCUIT that deals with life on the other side of the music world known as HEAVY METAL. Entitled 'TATOU YOUTH - METAL MEETZ SKIN' Dale explores the lives of some the members of superstar metal bands who are of a different culture than white American and he details the story of the bong between the art of tattoo, heavy metal music and those who create both pieces of pop culture as they explain the link they have shared through the decades. The doc features rock superstars such as SLIPKNOT, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, SLAYER, HED (PE), METALLICA, HATEBREED, NOTHINGFACE, SEPULTURA, SEVENDUST, COLD, AMEN, SYSTEMATIC and many more.

Dale confesses he rarely sleeps and is driven by the need to succeed in the very business most told him he'd never stand a chance in!

piore, January 11, 2008 at 7:44:17 PM CET

Dale Rage is doing like 100 vids a year or some shit, i highly doubt he'd come onto the antville and watch our crap vids and join in on the juvenile banter, YA HEARD.

This is all a joke, right?

Are you 'aving a laff?

Props to 30f for the "Extras" reference.

bodysong, January 11, 2008 at 9:43:51 PM CET

amazing how everyone acts like a 2 year old once someone starts up. oh, and that bio kills me. The white spike lee, creative genius behind da hip hop witch!

dalerestighini, January 11, 2008 at 11:43:21 PM CET

Thats my bio son, good enough for you? Top shelf at the 'Nation. Read it and weep. And respect to Lutz X, you know how we do. Holla at me and we'll do it up in the '08.

We RAGE on the hatas, but we keep it artistic, we keep it hot, we keep it moving. Yall don't even work in the indu$try. Thats whats good. No, thats whats REALLY good!

Ya heard?

captainmarc22, January 11, 2008 at 11:53:33 PM CET

haha wow. Well; i thought everyone knew that antville user dalerestighini isn't of course the REAL Dale.... though that bio is absolutely cringe-worthy.

And, I think I might be the only one here who saw "Da Hip Hop Witch" - or, the 6 minutes of it i could sit thru. It's basically home video footage of stuff happening, and then they cut to an interview of Eminem saying "I heard there was a Hip Hop Witch."

mainchara, January 12, 2008 at 12:00:29 AM CET

48+ comments? I don’t think even the newest Gondry video got this much love… or rather hate. haha

Moving on. This video has some nice shots (as others have said) but it definitely isn’t much after that. Still pleasant to watch though. Who knows? Maybe this video will save Janet’s career. People generally don't care.

quizmaster, January 12, 2008 at 4:00:18 AM CET

trans_alt, i am sorry i dont know of the illustrious career of the directors of quality music videos for people like britney spears, creed, the offspring, dave mathews band, etc... (i stand corrected, thats quality stuff, how did i miss that?).

i will give a little credit to lawrence for 'Constantine' but 'i am legend' is a travesty.

These people are hardly on my radar in terms of artistry.

Sounds more like you are the tourist.

Go suck a dolphins cock.

shut up, January 12, 2008 at 5:42:03 AM CET

Dude too funny, just goes to show everyone has an opinion, they are all valid but frankly this site's, whatever, I can say this for Saam, he worked really fucking hard, as did Hype, as does Dale, music videos are fucking tough to work in and makes sense when people get defensive. Which is why in this production climate, this site is OK but kinda sucks, a bunch of who knows, dissing people in a very well known forum.....

lex halaby, January 12, 2008 at 6:40:50 AM CET

In case you haven't picked up that "Dale" is an imposter, they didn't even spell the real Dale's last name correctly.

shatner, January 12, 2008 at 2:04:42 PM CET

It's a shame but it's time someone did some moderating on this board. In order for Antville to remain worth coming to Quizmaster and Parmezan have to go. I'm not a computer geek so I'm going to ask if anyone prevent their IP addresses from being able to comment here. Is that possible Kev?

Then half an hour later quizmaster comments again? I guess some fish can't resist the bait.

I hope you can chill out and relax away from this site.

spit, January 12, 2008 at 8:40:54 PM CET

It looks like 2008 will be the year everyone officially gets worn out by web 2.0. If you've ever wondered about the state of humanity, a quick look at the comments on ANY youtube video or popular message board will make you contemplate suicide. One of my new years resolutions was to stop reading or commenting on any internet forum (and yes, this is cheating, but a friend was telling me how out of hand this thread had gotten and I had to check it out), because the constant stream of ignorant racism, sexism, jealous hate, name calling, and knee-jerk reasoning was taking it's tole on my already jaded soul. For a moment this site seemed to be above the fray, but maybe it just got to big. The ugliness got out of hand, and now it feels like one more dark, ugly corner of the internet. I would recommend keeping this open, for what it's worth, but I would also recommend/beg captainmarc, 30f, kev, prog, and maybe a few others start their own site, kind of like a idolator.com for music videos. I'd be much more interested in hearing their insights and seeing them post what they would consider the most important and interesting new and classic videos.

kevathens, January 13, 2008 at 2:20:54 AM CET

I've been out of the office, but I can confirm that that isn't Dale Resteghini.

Please understand: the Web needs to evolve in order to remain competitive. Earth is not waiting breathlessly for us to comment on this or that.

bodysong, January 13, 2008 at 3:10:06 AM CET

"Please understand: the Web needs to evolve in order to remain competitive. Earth is not waiting breathlessly for us to comment on this or that."

what..................?

kevathens, January 13, 2008 at 3:18:21 AM CET

Maybe that's genius/crazy talk, but the point is: This site is losing it.

Spit mentioned creating a new site. I think that's a great idea. But personally, I need to do something that pays my bills.

parmezan, January 13, 2008 at 3:36:49 AM CET

I'd like to see a higher level of quality videos (an d higher intelligence of posters) on antville, some middle ground between here and something like boardsmag.com

It usually feels like group appreciation for bad music videos in here, which frankly, I'm sick of.

(ya Heard?)

kevathens, January 13, 2008 at 2:32:22 PM CET

Consider this my resignation from antville management. I'll pick up some pieces, but I'm on my way out.

progosk, January 13, 2008 at 4:32:39 PM CET

it's pretty hard to singlehandedly fuck with a community - whichever is your specific intent. attaining a healthy signal to noise ratio on a collective site is no mean feat. (and we're nowhere near the specs - and the subsequent needs - of collectivities such as metafilter.) i'm confident fringes take care of themselves (see above); similarly, growing out of a place is physiological.

personally, i have a hard time lending much of an ear to critics who don't bother to contribute anything of value (interesting posts, purposeful commentary or, in the case of awards, personal nominations).

antville sees better times and worse times. overall, though, it remains a unique biotope for anyone concerned with music videos.

you prefer your selection (and discussion) of music videos edited? plenty of quality places for that: promonews, obtusity, sro, cliptip, ifmv... not to mention every music site's growing video section.

videos.antville is what it is, and will be what you make of it.

captainhairy, January 13, 2008 at 6:57:13 PM CET

KEVATHENS: everyone super appreciates your hard work on this site. as for paying the bills, i've always wondered why no production company/label has hired you for fishing out young talent/video commissioning (same goes for progosk). You guys know the industry better than most people that work in it...

Kev: You might look at how motionographer works. It probably makes good money with it's mild bannering.

I tend to think the occasional absurd thread just comes with popularity. Under-commenting is what really kills a site.
Though it has become a bit of an undertaking to parse the volume of stuff on here. I can certainly understand why busy industry people would not bother.

Kev- don't let this recent rubbish get to you. It'll blow over. Antville's still the best on the web for discovering great videos.

kev dude, go on sabbatical.

you know you are much loved and appreciated here, and that's earnest. i still insist you're the only person out there who could write a book like lester bangs would've or someone about the music video.

whenever you see rampant stupidity on the net just remember not only are you not like that, you're also a decent enough human being to stand by what you say with your own identity. which of course, assholes rarely ever do.

i know what you mean about the burnout and the need to evolve, i'm absolutely positively sick to the gills of irony and snark, the two reigning modes of 99% of blogs, etc.

but lawless places have their uses, too.

keep off the net for a good two weeks. go on some hikes, go for a road trip, something. just don't let it get to you.

a lot of what's happened to antville too is the fact that the music vid world is in dire straits. less money for budgets, more videos, less outlets to be seen, more control from all quarters, the most conservative second guessed decisions being made.

go watch some movies. there's some really amazing stuff out there right now that's far more inspiring than vids.

I was really dissapointed with this Janet vid, the chance director did not pay off at all. The videos from Rythym Nation whipped this poor efforts ass x 100

This site has turned rubbish, shut it down before it gets worse

Agree wiv prog t'ville regulates itself ' always has

For better or worse I don't know any other video site, that has the same level of interaction on topics posted But since I'm not familiar with many of the aliases which ppl go by, I sometimes suspect that some criticisms offered are not as objective as they appear, n' reason there is an underlying professional motivation to such?

I ain't gonna tell u not to jump Kev! U do what u think is appropriate mate. Theres nuffin worse than being held to something u no longer feel for Ur appreciated and was/were/is one of the stalwarts of the ville Thx!

really like the video, could care less about the site drama. if you don't like it don't come here and don't waste your time reading and commenting that the site should be shut down. i think it's a kitchy little video that serves the purpose. nothing deep, nothing with a bunch of unnecessary cgi (yes some, but not the whole damn thing). also nice to see a small budget director try a new direction.

also not sure why everyone is all up in hype's yum yum since i think he lacks a lot of credibility and originality. i feel like everything he does has been done before by someone else in a much more original way. the most obvious association i can think of is the tlc video for "no scrubs" which was made shortly after mj and jj's "scream" by romanek and looked like a carbon copy of it. his extraordinary budgets and sub-par results always disappoint me.

but back to this video, i still like it and think it's an interesting direction for her, away from her cinematic background of some of her better videos of the 80s and 90s, and definitely better than her most recent ventures with kahn, williams, and myers– though i do have a soft spot for lawrence's "all nite don't stop" which i feel was a much overlooked video of 05.
