booooring year... blame the music, though.otc, 12. January 2008, 17:22
Actually it wasn't until I went back to look for nominations that I realized how many great videos there were this year. I think there were fewer breakthrough directors though. Also "Sirens" was by far the best thing made this year... just saying.
captainmarc22, 12. January 2008, 21:24
it was nice to see a good spread out of clips.... 1234, Bat for Lashes, Bumbleez, Sirens & Knife are a pretty solid 5 videos.Shouldn't best new director be Scagnetti? Eskills is so 2006.
and.... does everyone now agree the awards should've come out in December? No one cares about year end lists now.
Up next: Worst video of the year!

Congrats to the winners, and antville isn't worthy of all power (thank God).Doesn't Metafilter understand its own ridiculousness, prog?
parmezan, 13. January 2008, 03:58
The Cornelius video clearly blitzes that terrible emo horrors schmuck-fest.I saw many better performance videos last year, Fion Regan is terrible.
Emily Haines - Awful.
Knife/Cornelius/Dr Love/Bat for Lashes/Tonto are all worthy.
Generally 2007 was a good year for music vids.
vulvamatic, 13. January 2008, 16:26
that emily haines video's win is simply based on it's use of thermal imaging technology. how bland and pedestrian, the camerawork itself is vapid like someone's old 8mm art school project. It's like giving a video accolades because it looks as if we're looking through the inside of the Predator's helmet.shatner, 14. January 2008, 02:22
thanks progosk and well done to all the winners!30f, 14. January 2008, 17:35
Really quality choices. Thanks for the work.I gotta say I like that D Rascal video now more than when it came out.

Right on.-j

(p.s.: small matter the ville's best new director 2007 wasn't ever actually decided 'tween saccenti and eskils - they're now both signed to partizan.)
