Arcade Fire - Black Mirror - dir: Olivier Groulx & Tracy Maurice
It's not palindromic production so the interaction must be just a gimmick. Either I'm missing something or... well, I must be missing something.
well that was easily the most fun i've had watching a music video since i got 'making of thriller' for my 9th birthday and my friends and i hid behind the sofa. (thought the style of vintage footage and subject work well.) nice
Nice art direction. ;) What's the advantage of turning the instruments off? -j
that was absolutely incredible.
Green screen videos suck.
Gotta give props here..that was quite amazing..The video was a visual masterpiece and pretty sweet 'interactivityness'....
Best vid Ive seen in a few months.

the video was cool; but goddamn the audio flipping was unbelievably neat. I guess it doesn't hurt that their songs are amazingly produced and layered.
As much as I like the youtube, I wish more bands would experiment with this ish.
Arcade Fire are definitely following the lead of other great bands like Radiohead who understand the importance of meshing their music with a world of art around them. This video and the Neon Bible video both really floored me because they are the first music videos I have seen in a long time challenging the format. Both interactive music videos manage to do just that, physically engage us; that's rather brilliant. And then conceptually they're both brilliant and wonderfully executed. Very refreshing to see this kind of stuff.
the video's great.
but to me the "interactive" audio trick is a pointless gimmick.
and its an insult to the art of mixing. This will be forgotten as fast as the "do your own edit" gimmick on the Beastie Boys dvd was forgotten.
I don't even think the video's great. On reflection I'm with jesse - nice art direction but the rest has all the content of sales pitch.
Oh come on that was a fantastic video! Most bands would sell their drummer's sense of rhythm for a video like that. Easily the best thing on antville so far this year.
And it's not like they're pushing the interactive audio thing down your throats, you don't have to press 1 to 6 on your keyboard if you have a moral problem with it, or you're afraid of "insulting" sound mixers everywhere.
It's an amazing vid, and it's entirely up to you whether you choose to dabble with the interactive audio or not, and some people still have a problem??!!
One of the best videos I've seen in some time.
great
Immensely watchable clip, excellent art work, but didn't care much for the ending!
daniel breton's reading of the video.
