Scarlett Johansson “Falling Down” Dir: Scarlett Johansson's personal assistant
-
It's really not that bad. I'd rather hear something like this than an actress try to do power ballads. I think she sort of sounds like the lead singer of Celebration.

the video isn't really a video, but tell me- which director would pass up the chance to work with Scarjo?
Yeah, I know what you mean. It's the blatant rip off of Lost in Translation that irks me.

Yes, the video's entirely in keeping with the single - playing heavily to its strength. And, given that it's just a PA following her around with a teeny little DV cam, the picture quality's amazing.
I like it, its quite unpretentious.
Although it gets a bit shit in the middle.
Still given that music videos are generally must dug by teenagers, a teenage b.o.t.b. would think Scarlett way cooler in this than in some glossy effort. It's basically an 80's REM video, shot on today's format instead of super 8.
Sounds like early mazzy star with less good vocals btw.
the videos better than what 90% of signed directors churn out every month.
poor song, poor pop, poor video
same feelings here, spreech
scarlett got such a hard life! and this does not sound like early mazzy star at all.
The music reminds me more of early Sinead O'Connor and isn't half bad. If Scarlett really asked her assistant to make the video thats pretty cool. Since Lost in Translation however, she has been pretty much turned into the "it" girl. It gets fairly tiring seeing her sprawled all over other peoples music videos, perfume ads, and now her own music.
If she's serious about going into music, I wouldn't put her in the video. It invites way too much cynicism. -j
Director Bennett Miller (of "Capote" fame).
I'd say it's not a "blatant rip off of Lost in Translation". Rather it's making an ironic commentary on it. Life imitating art imitating life.
Sorry cosmopolidan, I'm picking up the Mazzy Star vibe too, almost to the point I expected to see Scarlett banging a tambourine halfway through the video. Nothing wrong with a bit of Mazzy Star influence though!
What gets me is why today's "stars" feel the need to have a finger in every pie. Why can't they be happy just doing one thing, and striving to do that well? Why does every bright (and not so bright) young thing think they have to write a children's book, record a CD, create poetry, launch a clothing line, direct a movie etc
I long for the time when an actress was happy just being an actress. Let's try to master one craft first before moving onto another, shall we?
was that a joke?
Thinly Vailed... music videos...
Bennett Miller directed this video - not a PA. It wasn't shot on DV, it was shot on 16mm.
