Stricken City - Tak o Tak (Dir. Sam Crack)
Irresistible frontwoman and korg-queen Rebekah Raa in the debut promo from Stricken City, released on ACTH Recordings on 28th July 2008. Produced by If Destroyed Still True.
why does everybody pretend to have withered ankles these days?
I like the idea, but there should be much more happening besides the performing. lighting is a bit to cheap for my taste.
Withered ankles! so true!
what idea?
this is a waste of a decent song that perfectly represents the current state of music vids.
Aha?!?,... blancs? "...that perfectly represents the current state of music vids." Tell me more, what do you mean?
My view: Here we have a nice band with some cute faces, which are featured plain but okay. Plus: an investigative styling and an upcoming great beat.
All in all, this video is kinda real/true/blablabla. So whats your prob? Seeking for 3d/motion control/blablabla on a mikro budget? Whats your "current state", b?
ha maybe it came across too harsh...but what i mean is, the whole 'budgets are getting smaller' scenario is resulting in a lot of videos exactly like this. Not a bad idea, and a good song, but a video that's shot badly and not even in a cute/clever way...and dont even get me started on bad 3d work on small budgets!
It's not like this video would've had a 6 figure budget 10 years ago. It probably wouldn't have been made at all. Most super-small budget videos are the result of indie labels recognizing the potential of youtube and investing very small sums of money.
The clip might be "kinda real" micro budget u2b potential msm, but again? I find it hard not to juxtaposition statements such as these against EPUK's constant bemoaning of Citizen Journalists, The Drogheda agreement and video journalists with HD cameras!
Probably of no help at all roos but I have dug up this tit-bit from Marguerite Johnson's book 'Sexuality in Greek and Roman Society and Literature' regarding your comment....
"A misshapen foot should always be hidden in a snow white leather shoe, and do not release withered ankles from their bonds"
jesus... if i see one more video that jump cuts the artist's clothes on the beat i'm going to fucking scream.
budget or no budget, this is dulllll. and yeah it's quite a nice tune, so double shame.
Considering that this is the first video for this band who are on a small independent label... let's exercise a bit of common sense here.
You've got a small amount of money that you can spend on a video, you have a charismatic band, good performers. I think this video is spot on. Yep, it's simple but it get's the band across, would sit perfectly well on mtv2. I'd rather see a video do something simple well than over-reach the budget and end up looking like a dogs dinner.
agree with shoplifter. I think it works well and I like the song too.
Agreed. Nice simple video on a small budget. Record labels need their bands to have their faces established early in their recording careers. And it would be a crying shame not to see Rebekah... who I quite like.
