Never thought I'd see a Gysin dream machine in a music clip but ther you go...
v pretty (was just wondering th'other day whut briet'd been up to...). when i was a kid we had this braun radio&recordplayer (the dieter rams schneewittchensarg), and there was a little clear plastic window at the back, just under the lip of the record, showing a little empty lit inner space; i spent hours spying into it, expecting to see the musicians appear, playing, in some shape not unlike the ghosties in this video.
Yes, pretty, but stagnant.
this is pretty fantastic
more than just pretty (which it is) - really nice new-age dreamy vibe - ecstatic listening brought to life, technically-snazzy without looking to snazzy, and works lovely with the song. big thumbs right up.
Briets videos always have beautiful ligths, I didn't find this the least stagnant - great one!
hypnotically trippy
yeah, didn't find it stagnant, totally into it the whole time.
does anyone know how the light streaking effects were done?
A solid video but something bugged me about it. Could be the neo hippy use of the dream machine. 'I got an idea what if the band were sitting in front of a dream machine and they started dreaming about playing a song, then they died because they went to far into their imaginations' ??? Was this the pitch? I hate to sound negative but what the fuck? Who would listen to such crap? Although the effects looked nice i felt i had seen them many times before and the director wasn't adding anything new except for the lame dream machine narrative. The lighting was good but good lighting doesnt make a video for me.
Functional but just a bit same same.
Light streaks look like a post effect rather than that seen in Oliver Gondry's video for Tiga.
Pretty pictures, but should have really taken the revolving turnstile trick to the next level instead just making guitars appear on the beat.
So Albert Hammond goes from the Strokes to adult contemporary? I don't understand.
This is stunning! Not only does it have beautiful HD footage, but the direction is spot on. Laurent has twinned the hypnotic visuals and subtly handled post with the track to perfection. It lends the track an edge of distinction and couples beautifully with the rythms and guitar work. A great example of what a performance vid should be.
Kansas- now you are an even bigger wanker.
This video is well made but I did find it a tad tedious. Still better than most.
This banter however is ridiculously entertaining. Seriously ladies and gents...keep it up!
And Kansas, I for one would LOVE to see some of your own work since your standards seem to be set quite high.
( Yes, I'm calling you out. How extremely art school of me. How extremely art school OF US ALL ;)
