hey hey you you, I think you'll need a lawyer...cus that was class A stalking for sure. Not to mention, that thing with the golf ball, that's fucking assault, lady. So, over 100million hits...robot hits, mostly...or was I not reading that article whose link was provided correctly?
either way, I hope Youtube finally gives her a trophy. She gets a trophy, right? One that says "You did it!".

Another sign that antville will soon turn into another marketing tool for record companies to exploit. Bye bye grassroots. Congrats for the 100M hits, no comment on the video. What's next, Miley Cirus videos?budget, 6. September 2008, 20:57
Alan, I think you're making the mistake of thinking that antville's sole purpose is to showcase indie videos.Alanedit, 6. September 2008, 23:42
I hear ya budget. I really like this site, it's one of the few forums for indie videos to gain an audience. Call me biased, but if Avril Lavigne videos show up here, expect major labels to bombard this site with the latest teeny bopper vids, just like they do in youtube. From that standpoint, i'd hate to see it turn into a high school popularity contest. I champion videos outside the mainstream that struggle to find an audience, but I understand your point.

alane, i believe you're missing a little bio&context re: kev. do browse a bit before minting your oracles.budget, 7. September 2008, 00:17
Alan, indie labels already use this site for marketing purposes. You know those weird days where a mysterious new user posts links to six completely unrelated indie videos accompanied by overly long bios and release dates? That's a lazy publicist trying to "get the word out" by bombarding "cool taste-making sites". Indie labels use the same tactics as their mainstream peers, they just target a different crop of sites.Alanedit, 7. September 2008, 02:19
Nothing wrong with that. Did I sound that naive? The question becomes, who needs the exposure the most: indie bands with cool little videos or multi global record companies with major media resources at their disposal?
I agree they both are after the same thing, which is exposure. But my response relates to this community. If I go off topic for a minute, there are lots of great videos posted here that would otherwise go by unnoticed. I'll likely view a small video with lots of creativity displayed than the bulk of the mainstream videos playing elsewhere. That's not to say I don't respect mainstream fare, I just find the bulk of it inspiration lacking. With the internet as the last of such resources where the music video community can prosper, it's all about the art form. If you subscribe to the idea that music videos are a dying art form, then the relevance to have a platform to get them shown is as urgent as ever. I didn't have Avril Lavigne videos in mind under consideration, after all, it's got 1.3 Mil hits according to it's poster.
Back to videos.

That "in 8 languages" clip is incredible. Really broadens her appeal to a global market, smart move on the part of her execs.framescourer, 7. September 2008, 09:05
Jolly good fun. Bryan McMullin (the bloke) is one of the best things in the video - just stand and smile baby.jesse.ewles, 7. September 2008, 18:15

I'll admit I'm responsible for about 5 of those 100m hits. It's a pretty good pop song and a very watchable video. And the foreign language things were fucking hilarious. One thing people often forget: a lot of audiences go to youtube to listen to songs, not necessarily watch a video. If you're at home and you want to hear "Girlfriend", what's the quickest way to do it? Go to itunes and sample 30 seconds? Click on their myspace page any hope it's posted? or just type it into youtube and quickly hear the whole song. Yeah, it's mono and the quality sucks, but it's as good as streaming. Plus, most people are probably playing from substandard computer speakers.
