Terry Lynn - System (Dir. The Rickards Brothers)
(NSFW)
A response to the violence that haunts Jamaica, this Rickards Bros.-directed video, for the Kingstonlogic 2.0 LP shines a light on the decidedly non-touristy parts of the country.
wow. the photos he took at the slaughterhouse are quite something. my favorite: www.afflictedyard.com the video less so, so i gather the transition from still to moving image proves to be rather difficult. but an interesting one after all.
I thought it was really very good and powerful - although I haven't looked at the stills yet to compare. I like the rather sickmaking fisheye effect.
raw.
Video intense...beat is DARK.
chitlins anybody?
chicharrones! God, I love living 5 minutes from a Colombian greasy-spoon.
jesus fucking christ, they're killing animals for real in this video - which you find terrrrribly moving - and you're thinking of prairie oysters and whatnot. btw, whats the society for prevention of cruelty to animals doing? this ain't a documentary, for fuckssake, so the excuse 'we just happened to be there, getting it on tape' becomes very shaky. it's a music video, and whilst i don't understand animal cruelty in everyday life, i find it all the more exploitative and wrong in films (remember haneke's benny's video or casuistry: the art of killing a cat).
hell, just an afterthought. im a man eater myself and i enjoy pork. and this video quite a bunch, weren't it for the fish eye. jesus, am i on a posting spree or what
I admire the effort involved in getting the message out there, but I don't admire the slaughter of animals to sell a stupid fucking song.
In no way am I being naive that this doesn't exist, I just don't think it's appropriate to do a music video for. Leave it to documentaries.
Wrong.
It woz God Dam sarcasm actually alexde, not an invitation for 'More favorite recipes' from around the bloody globe
Because the part of the pig the 'chitlins' come from includes intestinal polyps and the last few inches before the pig's rectum! So care must be taken when preparing chitterlings, due to the possibility of disease being spread when they have not been cleaned or cooked properly. Like E. Coli and Salmonella!
Chitterlings need rinsing thoroughly in several different cycles of water, and picked repeatedly clean by hand, removing extra fat and specks of fecal matter
Delightful way to spend a day I'd say! Cleaning and then chewing a pigs arse!
