Leona Lewis - Run (Dir: Jake Nava)
simple idea, but shot beautifully. the song is epic
I like it. Anyone know who shot it?
mainstream well-distilled (and crepusculaurora personified). u2b's, better q, for once. oh, and: dop greg copeland.

If I had a penny for every time this conversation took place, I would own Kodak today:
- Adam! We want that slick, American beauty look, how do we achieve it?
- By shooting 35mm.
- We can't afford it. Can't you light it so it looks like that?
- It's got to do with shallow depth of field, bokeh, resolution, feel and not lighting really.
- We can give you a Movietube on the HVX200m, if you want.
- Thanks.
Videos in England look like crap most of the time. With one single light, 35mm and a smoke machine this could be rectified in most cases. It's all I ask for - one light, one 35mm camera and a small smoke machine. I don't want to hear about how tight the budget is or how impossible it all is - one light, one 35mm camera and a smoke machine is doable on just about any budget. Yet whenever I ask they look at me like I have last stage syphilis.
Sorry, just frustrated at the low rent, low ball hole we've dug for ourselves. This video is an example of the right way to do beauty - one light, one 35mm camera and one big smoke machine. And Jake Nava...
STRATO: Fantastic. Really enjoyed your above comment. Hahah.
But consider, your rate is still one that gets untouched. Directors are getting paid zero, prod houses are giving up service fees, editors and fx artists are barely breaking even. But DP's, they're still getting 3k a day to shoot an mv. If you want that camera (and all the film and film processing costs), why not forfeit your rate and (what seems to be) mandatory crew....?
have to say im a much bigger fan of paul gores snow patrol video, i'd forgotten what a stunning piece of work it is. lusk..... 3k a day for adam? we should be grateful.
Grateful? Haha. Well if so, then there should be no quips on his end concerning equipment. Strato, thoughts?
Rate untouched? You must be kidding. This week I do a commercial (commercial!) and get paid 800 for recce and one shooting day. Next week I get 500 for a 18-hour music video. I'd make more money clearing tables at Little Chef.
