music video auteurs: Hal Hartley
Despite nary a mention in keef's recent feature director playlists, Hal Hartley was one of the more interesting video auteurs. Here are three instances of his œuvre:

Yo La Tengo - From a Motel 6
As the label notes, this video was deemed unsatisfactory and replaced by David Kleiler's reshoot.
(Incidentally, these last two videos are a perfect starting point for a fascinating dive into 90's music videos as seen through the lens of cable mv show My Part Of The Thing - but that's another story...)

Thank you for posting From a motel 6. Yo la Tengo are the coolest band ever and I think this typifies why beautifully, they don't have to act cool their music does it for them.
