Death Cab for Cutie - "Grapevine Fires" (Dir. Sir Wally Robot)
I wonder if this Wally Robot is related to Walter Robot.
actually, it's wally to his friends.
senility, can you please change dir. to Walter Robot--would be much appreciated.
and btw, our friends do not call us "wally robot." But thanks for posting (even tho we would've preferred this grab)
sigh, nobody can have a laugh these days.
Ace storytelling and I love the style! Yeah, that guy Wally sure is consistently great at crafting them videos :)
Nice one Wally.
classic wally, this!
I <3 Wally and this video.
@senility - I'm glad you at least didn't go with the original image you were going to post, you jerk. Luckily I saved it before you deleted it:
anyway, liked the video. Story comes off creepy with the style of animation, nice stuff.
hahaha, let's enjoy this before legion comes in and says there aren't enough crane shots.
great story telling and real emotion in this video. couldn't help but think of the horrible fires in Australia while watching it.
there are some wonderful little moments too, like when the ring doesn't burn w/ the rest of the girl.
well done Wally. well done.
senility, i hope you're proud of yourself and what youv'e started!!
very good video, Walter Robot! Like this one more than the Gnarls Barkley stuff. This one is more story telling and thats what i like about it.
I think mr robot was knighted. he is now Sir Walter.
i am. it's certainly lightened up the mood 'round here. plus the video is excellent, so that helps.
"he is now Sir Walter Wally."
(fixed that for you.)
This video is a perfect blend of tone and storytelling. Stunning technical ability and art, but never gets in the way of weaving the tale. Very storybook and fable-ish.
It fits the song so well, you'd think the song were written for the film.
It's nice seeing the suburban setting in an emotionally heartfelt way, too. Reminds me of E.T.
Well done, Bill, Chris, Walter & Robot!
Came here to post before I knew the director was reading the posts. However, I'll say what I was gonna say anyway - fantastic video. :)
The story is touching, moving, and, as has already been mentioned, it feels as if the music was written for the concept. Wow! And what a great job Wally!
K
I thought of the Victorian fires as well, very eerie. Loverly video
@senilitynow - hahaha.
The video was nominated for the MTV breakthrough video of 2009
