Is this posted yet?...I think its dope. Also feel free to provide references...i feel like it might have been done before.
Love this.
i like that. what's the special effect that allows a cut away in the still shots?
Fresh take. I'm feeling it.
and of course, conan's been doin it for years.
...as fun as the music video is, i can't help but see it as a missed opportunity (playing with starting and stopping time and all).
someone get schofield on this shit.
That wonder technology from the 60s, Syncro-Vox!
i don't know guys... this is a cheap effect
great video, Edgar Wright did it first methinks www.youtube.com
I think it would be an interesting conversation amongst people more knowledgeable than me about when an effect is a quote-unquote rip-off and when it's just another effect that anybody can use. If you have slow-motion in your vid, people don't usually break out the links to old 70's mv's that are full of slo-mo. When stop-motion is used, people don't go all "Psh, yeah I liked it when Willis O'Brien was doing it decades ago."
Personally, I thought the effect was used interestingly and merged almost seamlessly. Hell, there are even some half-shadowed shots that look spot on. Over all, I get the feeling it's a video I shouldn't like but do regardless. Ditto the song.
the song is so generic.
The effect is nothing groundbreaking but I haven't seen it exactly like this in a video before so I would call it fresh. They mixed in some cool action shots. I would have liked to see more things like the spinning wheels; or a higher shutter used for the water droplet shots. Or taken more guerilla style shots like the pool jump-in. Actually I wish they would have comped the whole jaw on; and not just the mouth. But minor squabbles; it's a cool video, just showed the potential to be an amazing piece. Ethan Lader is a mainstream hip-hop guy; so kudos for doing a low budget indie video and trying something new.
Yeah Ethan keeps me watching HipHop videos. Plus he's a super nice guy, so that always helps :-)
