St. Vincent - Actor out of work (dir: Terry Timely)
I thoroughly enjoyed that. And, ironically, this video felt like a pick me up because it's a small island of quality in a sea of recent mediocrity. The length of the song definitely helps out too. The concept might not have held up for too much longer but as it stands it feels perfect and actually left me wanting to see a bit more - which is always nice. I loved the thematic/conceptual build of the video as well.
It's muscle museum for 2009 and that's not a bad thing at all. :)

I really liked this video, and the concept was awesome. I just wished the lighting reflected the approach, because it doesn't match the theme but that may be a matter of personal taste. That red camera, "synthetic look" has got to go, it's become a new trend in videos, and it very rarely matches the form to function. A bit of a satirical, frenzy approach would have lent a humorous side to the video. Still, it's my taste talking and not a reflection of a video that succeeds at what it set out to do. Well done guys!
This is well done but something irked me about it. The sincereness? Obviousness of treatment in relation to song lyrics? Not sure... something put me off. Anyway well made and as is said above better than the recent pool of crap.
Yeah, April's not shaping up so great when something like this we enjoy just for having a damn concept to it. (on a video unrelated note, "More St. Vincent? Hot dog!"
Brilliant, as always with the Terri Timely.
Sharp work! nice
great find daisychain! ^^^
poor man's 'into my arms' ^^^
Alanedit, can you unpack "the synthetic look" a bit more? I'm curious how exactly you mean that -- are you referring to the combination of symmetry and steady movement?
on a related note - anyone know who DPed?
i feel like i know what alanedit means about the RED camera. i shot my last two jobs on it and while it's obviously an amazing camera, i have a hard time with its images as well. and i'm not sure what it is. perhaps they're too sharp, too clean, too perfect. transferred to film they look great, but digitally...i don't know. i'm trying to dirty them up a little bit. give them a bit of warmth.
