Brian Borcherdt - Scout Leader (dir. Scott Cudmore)
Brian Borcherdt is the man behind Holy Fuck. This is from his most recent solo record, Coyotes.
It's a "MySpace exclusive" right now...that's why the embed. The Quicktime is there, I think it looks better.
much as i like its 'let the right one in' air, isn't this uncomfortably reminiscent of ramon bloomberg's early luke temple video...?
wow, yes, definitely some striking similarities. i'd say we had the same references (crewdson, hopper, hall). i'd not seen that luke temple video until now.
In the director's defense, how would anyone ever have seen that Luke Temple video?
my thing is, if you're gonna go down the crewdson soft rip route (which both vids do and which, having read hundreds of treatments, crewdson is one of the most referenced, so no surprise), take it to another level. crewdson's working with 1 frame per lifetime, you've got 24 per second. scud kinda does it at the end with the levitation, but...
well shot, and good video in the greater sense.
It's reminiscent, but I wouldn't say uncomfortably, myself, Proggy Prog. I like this one way more. Nice work, Scott.
Very nicely done, Scott.
I like this. Very atmospheric. The song is quite good too. Kudos Scott.

@scudmore - great video but im positive you meant (jeff) wall instead of hall
Striking similarities! Levitation! Luke Temple! I've seen similar scenes in the Pang Bros movie 'The Eye'
Scott man... you should be really proud of this. It's a great piece of work. I loved it. Enjoyed every second. Keep up the great work.
@legion, thanks! i actually meant conrad hall, but yeah, jeff wall too.
Really great, very evocative.
silly me, hall, you're right.
