Black Moth Super Rainbow "Dark Bubbles" Directed by Radical Friend
Interactive video using webcam for motion tracking..!?
More on the video at Stereogum...
The way of the future. I cherish this.
Genius alert! This video totally owns… the fact that the shadows move is ridiculous. Costume also looks great, especially at night. Huge achievement –> advancing music videos.
A cute idea? Yes. A well-composed scene with "of the moment" art direction? Sure. But I can't understand how anyone would hail this as a game changer.
If there's one aspect of the internet that I can't stand, it's the way that it has re-prioritized the importance of doing something "first" over doing something "well". Let's be honest, did you hope this would video would do more after reading it's breathless praise on the internet? I did. I waved my hand back and forth for 2 minutes before i realized the trick wasn't going anywhere else. Not to take away anything from radical friend, they did a great job when you consider that it was probably made for free, but let's please not hype this into something more than a cute oddity.
what she said.
I kind of agree with everyone on this thread in various ways. I think it is a game changer in the sense that it is (for all I know) the first of its kind. Its like how companies have R&D departments. Is it a little simple? Yes but it kind of needed to be to actually happen. Look out for a similar video with different scenes, and a couple different ways to interact with the video throughout now that its known to be possible.
well, that's annoying, because my computer's playing it jerky as hell. but what i saw look ed pretty frikkin awesome. but however it works, it definitely works! some pretty impressive shit fo sho.
nice.
wow. well done. that was fun!
I can't get it to work. Or maybe I did and I didn't like. Cool idea, though.
